1911 Dilema leads to this question.

I was cleaning my Colt, series 70 gold cup the other night and realized I didn't want to shoot it anymore, well, at least alot less. You see, my brother sold it to me years ago and he acquired it from his platoon leader, a man he had utmost respect for. So as a reminder of my brother I just want to preserve it now.
Her goes the question:
What 1911 delivers Match accuracy and combat reliability similar to Series 70?
 
Well boys, if you can't beat'em join'em. Got a piston kit coming, we'll see what all the scuttle's about. Hopefully it will keep the gas out of my eyeball. :eek::yawn::rolleyes::)
 
Local gun site was doing a buy on the Osprey Piston systen. Figured what the hell, I'll try it. Got it at dealer cost. :)

what does a piston do in a gun? i gather its some improvement.
why wouldnt the gun come with it?
is this related to the bolt gun you guys were talkin about
or does this piston thing apply to all guns?

Colt Gunsite if you want a 70 - or just get another Gold Cup (non-70) or super combat

I still feel like the GC is the best value out of the box - but then again I'm biased - Right out of the box - the most accurate gun I have ever shot

Series 70 vs 80 is more of a mental thing IMO - they both go bang, consistently, when you pull the trigger - everything else is up to you

AR15's. More companies are coming out with factory piston guns. But there are a lot out there without pistons. It's supposed to make the gun run cooler and cleaner. :)

Fug, most ARs are DI, they use gas from the barrel to cycle the bolt. Piston guns use the gas to move a piston that cycles the bolt. Because the gas is not being sent back, the bolt runs cleaner and cooler.

Fug if you don't want to clean your gun as often get a piston

However, You can buy a lot of CLP Break Free for the price differential:D

You can run a non-piston for hundreds of rounds before you clean - if you are going SBR maybe good to consider the piston
 
Just went and bought some .45 ACP ammo for when I (finally) get my HK45 at the end of the month,,,

I'm used to .22LR and 9x19mm,,, these rounds are HUGE :eek:

Can't wait to fire some down the range :D

I got a new Heavy Chopper commin to me on the 16th, I'm excited, its kinda cool, I like the sound of it,, Rifle Dynamics reworked Chinese RPK. Not the thumbhole one either! The pistol grip,
