Question about the surefire 6p light
it takes 2 cr123 cells.
I read to be very careful about mixing brands
or even old and new cells...
I see at CPF this thread
http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=236215
which says a 18650 single cell will fit into a 6P
is this true?
maybe that would be better to just get a rechargable battery
and charger rather than
2 cr123's each time?
(I am specifically talking about using this in the light I am getting from J.)

on a side note,do the rechargables last as long runtime as regular battery?
Ive never had much luck with rechargeables lasting anywhere near
a regular battery.

Hey Fug, that thread is a Boring service. I sent my Surefire M2 to him, to have it bored out to fit a 18650. I'm pretty sure an 18650 won't fit in a factory Surefire body. Needs to be bored out. He did a good job on my M2.

An 18650 should give a longer runtime with the Malkoff. ;)

Yeah you probably don't want to mix CR123 cells.

Thanks trukreltrog
i thought he was selling single cells with chargers in there. :)
Cool,so a 18650 is fatter than a cr123 battery and then
requires the body of the flashlight to be bored larger...cool.

So what cr 123 batteries are good,Duracells from the grocery store?
I have to get some,to wanna have them on hand when my new toy arrives.

i sent it with 2 brand new surefire cr123's like a homie should.. when you get it tighten the top i unscrewed it some so the light wouldnt come on

Cool
I will order some.

I have been using this tiny AAA flashlight EDC for a while now.
Tell ya what, this thing is so tiny I always have it with,
pretty bright,3 levels...

Titanium Preon from 4sevens...

Has a strong pocket clip that i dont think could break under use.
I ordered a clicky tailcap switch for it today.
(they are supposed to be back in stock the 2nd week of Jan)
Wanted to give an update on this light since Ive been
carrying it. I use the heck out of it every day.
Just a really nice light.

Way to go fug, I have the 6P with Malkoff, you are going to love it. 123s over the counter are not the way to go, I have seen them for as much as $11.00 at the grocery store. The Ray-O-Vacs at batt. junction are made on the same line as the Duracell, Surefire, Energizer...etc. , they are all simply labeled accordingly.

Ive been reading up on the cr123a's
seems one should get only batteries made in USA
Seems surefire, streamlight and Rayovacas well as some others
are made by Panasonic.
(duh,peppercorn just said that!)

Reviews see to steer toward batterystation vs batteryjunction,
dont know why that is.

Huge price difference on like the Rayvac's
Battery Juction wants 140 each (rl123a)
batterystation wants 225 for the same rl123a.
Im just gonna order like 20 or so.
Might get one of those plastic cases as well.
(ya,Im a sucker for the shit at the grocery checkout counter too)

What batteries do you guys use?

Fug,

I talked to Malkoff on the phone some time ago, he was the one that told me about there only being two battery manufacturers in the USA and how the batteries are labeled accordingly to accommodate different, ''brands''. He also steered me toward battery station.
Surefire released a warning against use of ALL Chinese made batteries in their lights due to the fact that they had been the cause of explosions, due to overheating, in theirs and other manufacturers lights.

I mostly use Surefire's that I accumulated over the years.

Jeremy send me few different brands and they also performed flawlessly.

we had a guys batteries explode in his pistol light(luckily not when he was wearing it). found out some interesting things about lithiums:
don't use different brands together in the same light
don't use batteries with different charge levels in the same light(i.e. one old and one new battery)
NEVER let them get wet. even damp air can make 'em blow up.

I got Quart 123 Turbo Tactical today - nice light but I got the stupid flash turning on moonlight mode -

Found out I'm not the only one with that issue - kind of defeats the purpose of moonlight mode when its proceeded by a bright flash...

Meh........

I just saw that Countycomm now has a AA light identical to their AAA light.

The data...

Specifications: Length: 2.99” Diameter: .70”
LED Type: Cree 7090-XP-E Q5 with a life span up to 50,000 hours. The reflector is aluminum alloy. Flashlight body is made of aircraft grade aluminum covered with Type III Military grade anodization. The lens has been treated with a AR (Anti-Reflective) coating. Its proprietary circuit design features reverse polarity protection and runs off of one AA battery that provides 3 levels of brightness (Low/Medium/High).
Using A Single Duracell AA battery we got the following results:
Low Mode, 1.5lm Output for 100 Hours
Medium Mode, 18lm Output for 7 Hours
High Mode, 85lm Output for 2 Hours

85 lumens for 2 hours sounds pretty good.

I finally ordered a flashlight from this guy:
http://blackbearflashlights.com/

His high end, built from a Maglite 3-D, now has an output of 1150 lumens (with his newer batteries) and a very long throw. I gave one to my good friend a couple of years ago and it ie RIGHT NOW bright!!

I didn't order one before, because I already have a Surefire M3 and M4, but flashlight envy finally got me.

I know LED's are popular, but honestly, I haven't seen anything that competes with this rechargeable incandescent. It lights up the whole friggin ghetto where my friend/gunsmith has his shop.

When you shine it into a building, it lights up the whole interior, and light spills out of the other windows!

Yeah, it's big, but that ain't always a bad thing.
