Pluck, here is an idea for your cleavers.

Yep, I like cleavers ( and cleavage..). I know a couple of members have been modding cleavers for outdoor use. I picked up this guy recently, it is marked "Wright Smoke" (not a brand I am familiar with). The blade was re-profiled by someone. My initial impression is that would make a decent camp knife, it chops pretty well, but not as well as the much heavier, thicker and longer Foster Bros. The knife is about 13" in length and a hair over 1/8" thick..

Is anybody else messing around with modded cleavers? Post a pic if you have one...

Bruce I do buy primal cuts a lot like whole ribeyes and strips and cut them up. Old butchers cant get it out of their blood. I ran across that website while doing a search for maple butcher blocks. Momma has one in her kitchen. There is an item on there that everyone would love especially for sharpening those non-convexed knives.

I only have a TEENY one
(teeny Horton that is!)
But that Teeny necker can outdo some of the old knives I had.
Like my ColdSteel SRK,shit,I snapped the tip off that thing
when I tried to pry open a doublehung window that was painted shut.
My Horton Necker has popped open over a dozen with no problem!

I have a black and tan one. If you want it its yours. Because it is G10, I think I paid $120 at Blade. I think the micarta ones at Blade were $95-100.
