D2 is a hard and brittle steel. Not very suitable for hard use. A2 on the other hand is very tough and a tad softer. Not talking RC here, just metalurgy

The spider is a small 3.5 inch japanese style edc blade,, .200 stock. hollow ground chisel edge,, super thin,, slicer,, I know this cause I'm holding it,, d2 will make a fine steel for this blade,, so sharp,, for so long,, maine,,
