Just thought I would send out a warning.

I bought this collection , ebay item # 250226387054, and was scammed by the seller. I thought I was ok because I checked feed back and sent messages to a couple of her previous buyers. All the name brand knives are either worn down to nothing, handles broken back springs broken, or so rusted you cant open them. The pictures showed some pretty nice stuff but when I got them, all the knives had been turned bad side down for the auction photo's. Great big pile of crap. So I filed a dispute with paypal and wouldn't you know it they put a hold on MY account also. I contacted the seller and she said "oh well, they sold for a lot more than I thought they would and I"m keeping the money" . Guess we all live and learn but didn't really need a $1800.00 lesson, haha. So don't buy anything from this one. Best of luck, Tim

Here's a sample.

Looks nothing like the photos on E-bay. The word fraud seems to be in order here, the only thing worth $1800 is the laugh the seller got at your expense.
I would fight, fight fight paypal and E-bay then file suit in Small Claims ourt in YOUR home jurisdiction...................................Quickly

"IN OUR OPINION , WHICH AGAIN WE ARE NOT EXPERTS, THE CONDITION VARIES FROM ROUGH, WITH SOME HAVING BROKEN OR MISSING BLADES & HANDLES...SOME ARE RUSTY... TO GOOD TO EXCELLENT..."

I'm not taking sides. I hate fleabay because of these kind of people. They are the reason that I no longer buy or sell on fleabay, but this is a quote from the description which will give the seller a lot of the weight in this issue. Were there any "GOOD TO EXCELLENT..." knives in this 215 knife lot? Your pics do not nearly show 215 knives. Are the knives in your pics the "SOME HAVING BROKEN OR MISSING BLADES & HANDLES...SOME ARE RUSTY"? If so, then this will be a tough one to fight.

Yes, there were some "good to excellent" knives, they were all the import brands. Every collector knife that was listed is basically worthless.

Quote " We are not experts". They were expert enough to know which brand names to mention and expert enough to take the pic. with all the bad sides down.

Yes paid with paypal, have already filed dispute. Have no doubt I will win, but I want everyone else to know how I was scammed so the same seller won't get away with it again. I have sold thousands of knives on ebay and never ripped off a single person. You can be honest about what you sell and still make good money.

78 broken or rusted shut , that seems like more than "some" to me.

48 modern junk, auction stated "very few are current".

So out of 215, 89 are knives in fair condition. A large portion of those are imperial , colonial, klein, camco , you know stuff about that quality.

Maybe when potential scammers post lots for sale and list some attractive knives E-bay will mandate they list the condition of each and every knife to stop this very common tactic.

I bet their position will be:

"Our listing is accurate, some knives are rough. We just failed to tell you that each and every valuable knife we listed is worthless, oh well":jerkit::rolleyes:

Mora, I understand and have no issue with you or your opinion.

There are 2 kinds of deception, flat out lying and lying by omission. I feel this seller lied by omission.

It's a shame that this happens. People have taken advantage of me many times on ebay, both buyers and sellers. It's really no fun to bid or sell anymore.

I won a similar deal a year ago or so. All knives looked pretty good in the auction pics, but had the same problems as yours when they arrived. Fortunately I won the auction for under 50 bucks. $1800 is a big lesson.

If you rent a table at a show and you carefully arrange a lot of junk knives on it with the bad sides down, people will pick up your knives and look at them and laugh at you and move on to the next table.

If you take pictures of the layout and advertise on the net, people don't get to pick them up and look at them until after they've bought them, and they don't just laugh at you and move on. You'll find you've created all kinds of trouble for yourself.

Well the verdict is in. Paypal decided against me because the seller used terms like "may be" and "might be" and "could be" and so therfore there was no "guarantee" of anything specified in the auction description. What a load of B.S.

I guess all this time I have been selling knives on ebay I have been doing it wrong. I was under the impression you were supposed to be honest in your description but I guess all you have to do is be very vague and you will make a lot more money.

The lesson learned is to ask questions, take nothing for granted, assume nothing, request detailed photos or accounting of the knives.

It just seems reasonably to fully understand what you are buying and not assume anything which you did this time.

Sorry to hear your story. I was in a similar situation a year ago. Lesson#1, always pay by credit card thru PayPal, they actually don't prefer you to do so. If you did pay by cc, file a chargeback right away. Credit card companies offer more consumer protection than Paypal. You have a fair chance to get your money back.

Frankly on the rare occasions when PayPal decides in favor of the victim of a swindle, it's always a surprise. Do a chargeback with your credit card company.

I guess your only hope would be if some of the bids were shills. But with the new system that hides user identities it's hard to determine.

I'll give ya $20 for the Camillus marlin spike. :D
