The wife insisted that tomorrow we do something passive :grumpy:, so late in the day I headed out for a quick hike. It's pretty hot and humid around here now, it hit 101 degrees on the drive up. Such wussies around here, when I got to the parking lot, which usually has about 15 to 20 cars in it on the weekend, there were only 3.
I was pouring sweat as I climbed up through the Valley of Boulders to the top of one of the little mountains in the Green Pond Mountain range in Harriman State Park.
This is a very interesting area with lots of edible and useful plants.
Mullein
Blueberries
Milkweed
Raspberries
And here is Green Pond, should probably be called Farm Pond. This picture shows about half of it. But I've been told there are lots fish in it.
Some nice natural shelter adjacent to the pond
Between the fish from the pond, the berries and other plants, and the natural shelter, this seems like it would be a decent spot to have to survive in.
