Hot, Humid Harriman Hike (Photo Heavy)

Wish I was there with you Bro..looks like a good place to soak in nature!

sasha if you've got pics of Amoure lets seem 'em.

Gene, you're not too far away, perhaps we should do a guerrilla style gathering in Harriman, no permits just set up camp, if we get hassled by rangers, which I seriously doubt, we just pack up camp and move to a new location. Rescueriley, any interest?

Theo...That's how I roll brother...stealth camping all the way..about green pond looks like mostly blue gills..Although I was at island pond the other day and from the rocks on the sure I spotted quite a few pike...also caught a huge rat snake...was a good trip

I was planning to head up there next Saturday - those pics make it harder to wait. Looks like the weather may be a little easier on me than it was on you.

Nice pics! We have those Japanese raspberries here. Most people call them wineberries. They are an introduced species but have naturalized.

Mountain laurel honey is also toxic ! Those dead trees remind me of the recent fire in Minniwaska state park. I'll be seeing that damage for the first time this week. That fire took IIRC 3500 acres of beautiful forest because of the incompitant state DEC !!

What section(s) of Minnewaska were burned? When did this happen?

I can't remember who said this but I couldn't agree more. "If dogs don't go to heaven when they die, well then I want to go where they go". Dobies are great dogs and you were there for him till the very end.
Will Rogers. I feel the same way about my dog.

Nice hike, and great looking dog, Theo. Thanks for all the pics. Quite the weather we're having; you & Richard are real spartans for going the distance!

Friends and I took the easy way out, going to Silver Mine lake before the heat came in, to relax on a rock in the cool waters.:o:D

I hope you can share a little more, Mete, on Minnewaska. I lived in 'Da Pultz' for a few years, and found the landscape, particularly the rock, a real gem. I'm sorry to say I didn't take advantage of my time there by exploring the landscape more, and will have to remedy that, this summer!
A friend took me to a waterfall there once, and these hot, humid days keep bringing me back to that refreshing image under the forest canopy.

There is a really cool tool in Photoshop CS3 that automatically builds a panorama from multiple images. So here is a full pic of Green Pond created using 3 separate images. It literally took the computer about 10 seconds to merge them.

Once again, great pics bro !!!
Nothing beats hiking with mans best friend eh !!!!

Do you know what was mined at that Boston mine.....gold, tin ?
