How about a Hogstrom

This is not one of my favorite Hogstrom knives. The clip doesn't work for me on this particular knife, and the guard really doesn't appeal to me. Like Steven posted, aesthetics are very personal and he and I often don't agree on what looks good in a knife design, but this time I am in total agreement with him.

but seriously all those fittings are cast..look at the tolerances
the ivory is top shelf ..there are 2 count em 2 makers who get that stuff

I like how Anders pushes the boundries. There is no doubt about his talents in fit, finish and use of high quality materials. His designs won't please all, but his Nordic/Japenese described style in most of his work is not the norm out in the knifemaking world. His blackened bronze fittings on this one aren't a favorite of mine, but his 'Undertaker' is properly named. This would win many a battle I'll bet. I am anxious to hear some feedback from the NY show next week.

I have wanted one of Ander's daggers for some time...just waiting for that right one to come along.

I doubt they would be any different. Not in my case anyway. I am a huge fan of Anders' knives, but this one didn't appeal to me in the same way that previous ones I have seen did.

When a maker that is as outside the box as Anders is, not every knife is going to have the same amount of appeal to everybody that sees them. It's not that it isn't a well made knife, because I'm sure it is. It's also not that it won't be thought of as a beautiful knife by many. It's just that in this case, I'm not one those that finds it to be a beautiful knife.
 
It is a matter of personal taste. I like his out of the box style. The construction and materials are impeccable. For those who may want to see this at the ECCKS I would recommend they hurry to Anders' table as I feel it will move FAST.
