Well, I finally joined the Ka-Bar era! I've had Beckers from Cincinnati, Effingham, and Camillus. Today, I placed an order for a BK-14 from Olean. It was high time.

Let me see some pics of what you've done with yours. I'm particularly interested in handle wraps. :thumbup:

Awe right!!! 'Bout time you joined the 21st Century. All those old Beckers of yours, dating back to the stone age. Don't you have that obsidian knapped Incan Becker from like 1,000,000 BC?

Comparison to my BK11

And my standard OD green para wrap. I got this one from the ESEE forum, and I like it the most. YMMV.

I had the BK11 (original Becker), gave it away for other gear. Recently got the Eskabar, here is some action pics;

its a great knife, the rounded handle is much more forgiving on the palm that the bottle opener on the BK11. That beings said, my old BK11 opened around 5,000 bottles of beer and shaved hundreds of fuzzysticks for firemaking before i traded it.

Here is another 11/14, I didn't wrap the handles because I heard the Izula scales worked (they do, with a little handi-work :D). Me likey the way they feel. I would suggest trying them out.

Just threw attached a pic of the EsKaBar size comparo' to the BM Mini-Grip, HEST and ESEE 3 (had the ESEE out for a photo shoot, Mini-Grip was in my pocket when I took this).

I was just in the process of posting a thread about some color mods I did with the Micarta, nothing groundbreaking (Rit Dye). Ill post one over here when I'm done.

Looks good. How much handi-work are we talking?

Thanks Guyon,

Not much, two methods;

1)- Trim back red placement layers they attached on via an adhesive. (Recommended because of stability)
2)- Rip the red placement layers off and just attach the slabs.

I, tried one, then went with option two :D. I have not had an issue with the handles sliding around at all. Wouldnt be that hard to trim them to fit, they are made for the izula and the BK14 has less open space in the handle. I just wanted to play with it :D

i ended up wrapping my sheath, which makes it quite versatile as a belt loop system. i can slip a belt under that, either side, for vertical or horizontal carry in any of 4 orientation or some crazy canted angles if i want:

Anybody know if the scales for the Izula II would fit (or if you can even get just the scales)?

scales for the Izzy 2 will not fit - they're made for a handle 1/2" longer than that on the orig Izzy & Eskabar.

My pleasure, glad you like it. Really changes the feel of the knife IMO.

Rip the red pieces off? :D

Well, I ripped 'em off, trimmed 'em with scissors, and then stuck 'em back on.
