How can the average person afford crk?

Keep an eye on the exchange here on blade forums, i copped my small sebenza for $200 + a trade that was free to me - - I once saw a user bg-42, large regular go for under &200

For years, I purchased many knives, mostly for carry, and when I found one I really liked, I'd buy extras (quirky, I know). Most of these were in the $30-$50 range, and as you can guess, my tastes would escalate to where some of them approached $100. No one knife would occupy the pocket for more than a couple of months, then another would displace it. Looking back, I spend a LOT of money on all those knives, often during times in my life when I should not have afforded them. :o Then, I was introduced to a Sebenza (large was the only size) -- that was in 1992. Twenty years later, I'm still EDCing . . . a large Sebenza. It's not the same one, but it very well could be, because they're built that well. The design, I believe, is and will continue to be a classic. I keep trying other knives to displace it, but keep coming back to a Sebenza.

In a way, the Sebenza was the most economical route for me. Had I started with one, I'd not have wasted so much on others.

Good luck with your EDC decisions.
I could not have said it better. My first was a large regular when they were first released still have it. I'm trying to carry a mnandi but the small Sebenza 21 always ends up in my pocket. Save and stop spending on knives that won't satisfy you quest you wont be sorry.

Microtech makes a good knife. Unless you are unhappy with it then I wouldn't worry about getting a CRK. If you are unhappy with it then save up for CRK. Selling off old knives can speed up the proccess.

Sure, an "average" Joe can't afford a CRK, but it's not an "average" knife :)
Yeah, just save money and in no time you'll get one

How bad do you really want it, send me a few pics of yourself I know a pimp or too that might could help you out...j/k

I have an iPhone and that's only because I don't have a computer or a tv or anything like that. I keep things for the most part simple .

If you like simple, then I would bet money that you will fall in love with the sebenza. I had the luxury of finding a retailer on the CRK website who lived 3 miles from my house (never been so lucky). He let me take my first sebenza home with a $20 deposit and paid him $40 to $60 each paycheck until I paid him off. Now, I set aside $20 a week until I have enough. Keep in mind that you can purchase a lightly used sebenza for a bit less than new, then send it to the spa and its will look like it did the day it was made. Worst case scenario, you find it just is not for you, then you can sell or trade it on the exchange and get most if not all your money back. A sebenza is like a classic car, it rarely depreciates, and may eventually appreciate.

i kinda believe in the buy high and stop. i have a starbenza which is an amazing knife. i have had it over a year and while it isnt my edc i found no better knife to buy. reminds me of the omega watch i bought when i graduated undergrad back in 2003. by the best once and be done. however i will admit the same doesnt apply to cars. i had a bought a bmw in 2007 and recently traded it in for a subaru. while it was an amazing car i didnt want to deal with the up keep and a new one wasnt worth 20k more then the legacy.

The Sebenza is very worth it.
The quality, fit and finish, tolerances, and overall EDC perfection is worth every penny.
And they pretty much have a Sebenza for everyone!

I will admit that I am a broke girl, I'm 21, yet I own several higher end knives. I've worked very hard to get to where I am with my knives and EDC set up.
It's taken a lot of trading, selling, working, consolidation(when I get a lot of knives built up) to get the knives I have and I couldn't be happier.
I have a total of 7 upper end knives and love every single one.
I just got my first Sebenza around 6 or so months ago. I love it and carry it everyday. Every other knife I have can be a secondary. I have a few that I love to carry side by side with my Sebenza. I also have knives for every occasion and use. But my Sebenza is always in my pocket.

It took me over a couple of years of being into knives until I was finally able to get myself a Sebenza. I wish I would have had the chance sooner. But I love it and I have no doubt that it's the only knife I'll ever need(of course this won't stop me from buying others).

Get one, sell things, trade things, and the longer it takes, the more you'll appreciate it once you do get it in hand. I know this personally.

You will find a way... there is always a way. When I was dirt poor and going through college, I donated plasma. True story. And when you do finally do it, you'll only cry once... then you'll never regret the money spent. And if you do, CRK's lose very little value from new prices. A win win!

I just did the saving up thing to get my small Starbenza. I bought mine on the secondary market and figured if I didn't like it I could sell it without losing too much money.

I like my CRK so it stays in my pocket.

drink less beer? just cut down some frivolous spending and you'll be able to get a sebenza in no time. unless you are already on an instant ramen noodle diet it is pretty easy to just pick up a few less things at the grocery store and it just adds up quickly.

I look at our monthly budget and if I gave less to my three kids and didn't spend so much on wine and vodka I could afford a Sebenza every month.

put some spare cash away, every time you get paid like 50 you put 5 away, sell other knives yoyu have you don't use anymore, sell old stuff on ebay
I managed to buy 2 in 1 month without a job, selling knives & stuff and doing jobs whenever I could

350$ is like 35$ per month for 10 months...or 70$ for 5 months, not that much if you save and work

Saving up is worth it. I just set aside a portion of my paycheck every month while saving for a new watch and potentially a Sebenza.

My biggest problem is that I still have trouble spending the money. I usually have to really justify the purchase to myself by also selling off a few knives. All that said, getting a Sebenza is absolutely worth it.

This is what I do . You know that cup of coffee with a bagel in the morning $4.00 every day Stopped now I get up early make it at home . Lunch at work stopped that to $6.00 make my own I haven't bought lunch in about 10 month. The stops at 7 11 no more . Save about 60 to 70 week . Save that times times 4 weeks $240 . I usually by one a month 100 + knife . I don't care much for the sebenza but eventually ill get one to try it out . Last week I bought benchmade 943 with my lunch money .
