How can the average person afford crk?

How many knives do you own? If you have a dozen of knives that ranges anywhere from $20-80 you could have used that to buy ONE good knife instead. For a while I actually saw sebenzas on the exchange go for under $300... heck I sold my diamond plate sebenza for $285 a few months ago.

If you want to save, I think the ING Direct (now known as Capital One) account is great. I've been using mine to save for various things for around 2 years now. It automatically takes set amounts out of my main account at set intervals. Money accumulates before you even know it. There are definitely other providers of similar services out there. And if you read Ramit Sethi's "I Will Teach You To Be Rich," he will tell you how automating your finances is the best path to reaching your savings goals.

You'll have a Sebenza before you know it.

Good question and great answers.
"Sebenza" means "work" in Zulu language, maybe that's for a reason.
I think it is a goal, that can be achieved, if desired.
"Is it worth it?" ---> Yes, definitely.

Most "average" folks I know could buy a Sebenza a month if they quit eating out and going to the bar. If a person who lives in a city used a bicycle &/or public transportation instead of driving or taking taxis they could have a Sebenza in a month or two. If they bought a $5,000 car instead of a $35,000 car they could have a Sebenza & a decent piece of property somewhere.

When I bought my first Sebenza I was with some buddies at a Gun Show. I sold a pistol there to fund the Sebenza. They were standing next to me when I was first examining it. When I found them later I showed it to them and my Roommate, Wil looked at me so seriously (he had seen the price tag) and said "You just *^%# bought that knife!?" I thought he was going to be sick! He wanted to talk to the CRK Dealer there and get some facts straight. Then I explained to him that the only reason I drove us to the Gun Show was to meet this CRK Dealer to check out a particular knife... which I was happy with and bought. Funny.

Honestly. I have yet to meet the Sebenza's equal as far as an incredibly high quality, Jack of all trades, Every.Day.Carry.

One great way to save is I take my change from lunch and shopping and drop it into a coffee can. Before you know it there is enough for at least a used CRK. My main source is to sell off stuff that just sits around and I don't use. That includes knives, tools, musical equipment. Simplify your life to stuff that you really love.

I have a friend that makes a fairly meager salary yet has a very impressive gun collection. Each year, he buys several that are upwards of $1000 each. Another friend of mine makes about what I do and has very nice collections of guns, knives AND watches. These guys are much like me in that they're fairly frugal when it comes to other daily/weekly/monthly expenses. When we want to buy something for ourselves, though, we buy the best quality we can afford.

This is funny Thread:
First thing to do is to ask the guy how old is he and than I would start to giving him advices.
Because is different if 15y old doesn't have the money compare to 40y old who doesn't have the money.Don't start to assuming that he is married guy working for the Microsoft.

The real answer is this -- an average person will not afford a CRK. Only those with superior judgment and style will afford one (and probably more). :)

I would guess I spend about $50 per month on knives/accessories. So, given that, if I want to hold out for 8-9 months a Sebenza is easily within my budget. Heck, most TVs cost more than a CRK and not too many people do without those. It's all about patience and prioritizing.

Best reply i have seen in a long time. Well said!

However i find most of these methods hard....i always set aside some cash from my salary and then eventually use it for something else i NEED. I need a piggy bank, but cant find any without those freaking holes on the bottom which u can open up!

My old man is a heavy equipment mechanic and in his down time at work makes banks by welding large oil filter cases closed and cutting a slot in the top for change. He's given countless away over the years in a bunch of sizes and colors.

The only way to get it open is cut it open with power tools or maybe attack it with a sledge hammer.

Perhaps you just need to find something solid that you could cut a slot in to make into a bank or, if you have the means to do so, weld your own.
