The confederate flag is a symbol of the attempt at breaking the Union. It should not be looked upon as something to be proud of. I know that the war was not fought for slavery but for the southern rights. As for for raising it today, to each person his own but state's should not fly it at government buildings next to the US flag. Think about it, if we had a long, bloody war with China, costing many lives, when we finally overtake them would we want them to still fly their flag next to ours? Just an example to compare why I beleive flying the flag is wrong.
