How deep is your Buck loyalty?

Buck knives comprise about 20 percent of my collection. The rest are Schrade (mostly Old Timer middle and large stockmen), Western States, Case, and older Camillus.

Though 20% seems low, the knives I value the most are Bucks. The 102 from my scouting days; the sturdy Bucklites and the hefty 307 I took on various deployments; a very snappy 303 pre-86 that the good folks at Buck cleaned/tightened up for me; and a trusty 105 that is on my belt when I hunt.

The quality products and company values are hard to beat.

Yes, Buck still offers the above kitchen knife set. The last time I checked it was offered with paper-stone handles, wood laminate and stag. If you wait. The paper-stone is dish washer safe. I think I got my wife her set in 2012 or 13. She really likes them. DM

My collection is 95 percent buck,my real collection is all buck, with a few Randall made knives and the rest are handmade.

40% Cold steel, 30% Buck, 30% other. I'm actually trimming down my Bucks, but I love the ones I'm keeping. 119, 110, 300 series a few, and paklite series most.

I would have more if Buck did more I'm some better steels for the price sometimes. I hate spending $80+ on a knife that is 420HC. I know they rock at it, but I prefer my 1980 110 in 440C, thanks. Lets see some more non-110's in that kind of steel, please! I bought the Selkirk, but was not happy with it. Sold it and I will use my SRK to fill that role.

I'm around 75%. A few of my purchases weren't exactly out of loyalty, Buck just had exactly what I was looking for at the time. Now if there is anything I need, I just go to Buck first. Man, I just love that 112...

I would say 70-80% of my collection is Buck. I'm moving more toward customs and custom makers as of late, so some of the Bucks might have to go at some point soon.

12 out of 25 are Bucks, 7 are customs, and the rest are SAK, GEC, Opinel, Northwoods

My Buck loyalty has run pretty deep. I have about 75% Buck and 25% of anything else good. As I continue to collect, the margin grows smaller. It's all Buck now. It's as good or better than the other US made stuff. That's all I need.

I have 6 Bucks, 5 Victorinox, 2 Kershaw, 2 Spyderco, 1 Ontario, and 1 SOG. And I have a serious soft spot for Buck Knives.

Update:

I added one non Buck knife to my all Buck knife collection.

It is a Ka-Bar #1211 FB knife with a plain-straight edge.

Interesting. I was in the USMC but never owned a 1211 until my son bought me one a few years ago. Since then I've added to my KaBar collection with a current 1211l for hiking. Also, I like smaller knives for wearing about the yard, etc. I have three of the "3/4 KaBars." Which are also very nice when I want to hike as light as possible.

But, the KaBar's are no-nonsense-type knives. If I want to take something in the KaBar 1211 size range I prefer the Buck 120, and most recently the Buck 120 Charcoal and Indigo Blue.

And in the 3/4 KaBar size range I prefer the Buck 105 Pathfinder.

But, it all depends on how you intend to use the knife. If you know your going to be doing a lot of work with the knife, then a KaBar is preferable to a Buck in the knives we've mentioned. But if you aren't going to be doing much work (maybe I should say "non-hunting work") I prefer the Bucks not because they'll do a job better (they might not) but because they look better.

I probably have in excess of 100 knives but since they aren't all in one place I don't really know what percentage of my collection is Buck, but in terms of working knives, I have a Becker for every purpose I can imagine. These knives are big, tough and the typical Becker user doesn't mind beating his up. I am not like that. I have these Beckers but I haven't beaten them up. If I ever went camping (unlikely) I would take a couple of Beckers, but Hiking as I do (where I don't really expect to actually use my knife, or at least not use it very much) I prefer Buck knives, the 120 first, the 119 second, and the 124 (because of weight) last -- or if I expect to go extremely light, the 105.

I have periodically tried other knife brands -- a couple of Schrades over the years, a few Case folders, some Pakistani Damascus blades, but nothing matches the Buck quality, knife after knife -- well the Becker quality is probably as good -- but not nearly as pretty.

I should add -- back in the day when I was still working (engineering), I carried a folder -- can't recall whether any of them were Buck, but in the evening when I walked the dog I most often used a 'buck lite" or a "Ranger." Since retirement, though, I prefer a fixed-bladed knife. . . I have a bunch of Buck folders but don't know how many.

Mine is @ 40% Buck, but I don't have a lot of dedicated knives. My Bucks are the 110 Folding Hunter (doesn't everybody?), small and large Vantage Selects, a Minibuck 425, and a large Vantage Pro I have never used. My others are a small assortment of Opinel and Mora, plus Spyderco Delica and Native. Formerly I relied on these a lot, but much of my cutting chores these days are handled by multitool blades. Just too convenient.

Bought a Buck Iceman and thought it was a great deal and sweet Buck made tactical style tip up carry blade till I saw China on the backside. Now just a little disappointed.

Any issues with the knife or just where it was made? Is that your only Buck?
