In a discussion of the new Busse family sales sub forum, Jerry suggested that we probably get more new people trying Busse out due to things they read elsewhere rather than seeing the knives for sale in the exchange. So I though, what the heck, why not a poll to try and gain some empirical data. So this is mostly for those people who are pretty new to the Busse family of products, I think the input of older collectors/users is just as valid so everyone chime in! Since all Busse family products have been lumped into one sales sub forum, when I reference Busse products or Busse family products in the poll, I mean Busse Combat, Swamp Rat and Scrapyard combined.

Just a note, registered users will not be able to use the poll (as I recall), please just add your experience in the thread as a post.

For me, it was the result of some intense internet searching for "hard use knives".

I was referred to SYKCO for the Dog Father. Did digging and Busse came up. 16 blades later I am still hunting! :D

saw a magazine ad, and loved the knife. it was the meaner street line.

i called and found i couldnt get a sheath with the knife, so was a bit disappointed.

a few months later i stumbled on the company store, and what was there? meaner streets!!

grabbed my first infi, and never looked back!

sure wish i had grabbed a few more. le's, dc's, leaners, and what were the ones called that were in between? well, they were all available.

my brother told me about them, and this place about the same time

he's expensive!

I was generally a folder collector and came to Blade Forums in about 2005 for that purpose (different ID than I have now).

As I was hunting for folders I keep seeing these Busse for sale threads and wondered what the #$@& was going on. So I looked in here and saw RatF's sig line three finger and contacted him and he directed me to Skunk and Shunk sold me a three finger for... I think $875.00 and from there.... well you know:thumbup:

I was on a Belgium/Dutch weapon forum where they mentioned Busse a couple of times. Since I never heard of it, I thought well just take a look at the knives they have. So that's why I joined Bladeforums and so there was a Busse sub forum and I joined the Busse forum from the Busse website. And there I saw for the first time an SFNO and was in love...:D

That's how it started with me..

I've always loved blades. One day while I was reading about tactical knives I stumbled upon bladeforums. I read a review of two knives, I believe a Cold Steel and a Busse. Everyone was saying it wasn't even fair to compare the two because Busse is in a whole different league. That led me here. And I've never looked back.

Stockman showed me the first busse i ever saw (an NO-E) , and Forrie bought it off him.

I witnessed the Infi Pimp show at the Indy 1500 show. Some discussion about studs and holes (folder opening styles).

And I finally had a chance to meet the elusive Bob. That alone took 3 shows!

Family member had some of the older Strait handled line and some of the Ergo's, showed me what they could do and then told me about the warranty.....that was enough.

I read Cliff Stamps review of the SHBM... had to own a Busse after that...

Since then I've done a lot of reading etc. on hard use knives, and Busse are the best... they are dear, but you have control of what you get and what it looks like, and aside from that, I'm a firm believer in if your gonna buy something, get something good from the start!

I saw an ad in the back of a gun magazine in about 1992,
pictured a Steel Heart I and a small picture of Jerry. I was impressed by the lifetime guarantee and the appearance of the knife. But for some reason I held off until 1994 before I ordered a Steel Heart II, followed shortly by a Badger Attack.

The straight-handled BA was the most poorly fitted Busse I have ever seen. The contrast to the SH II was so great that I called Busse about getting my money back. Jerry answered the phone, was very cordial and said he would refund my money if I desired to, but that he would like to replace the knife. I agreed to this, and received a very nice BA in exchange.

I wish I could say that I went on to buy scads of the older model Busses, but I had no idea of collecting them at that point. The next model I bought years later was a NO-E, it was love at first sight, and after that things kind of escalated.:D

A combo of the exchange, review and general forums here led me to the Busse forum. After 6 months of being on the fence, one day I put in an order for a BATACLE and never looked back. I now have 3 FBM's and an AK, but still don't have my Badger:D

A friend showed me his new Swamp Rat... I oogled... Bang, introduced!! Busses stayed out of my price range for a while until I realized their worth and value.

After 360joules pimped some Swamp sweetness to me, he mentioned Busse on the forums. So, I ventured over to the home site and badmojo. Lo and behold, I stumbled onto the pics of SFNOs. I've been INFIcted ever since.

I wanted to find an old knife from my youth (Mk II) and signed up for BFC. A hard use knife for outdoor use was always a consideration but I didn't know what I was missing 'til I got here!

My first Wauseon love was the SRKW Desert Jack. Before I completed that quest, I scored a first Gen Howling Rat. (Still have both!)

For me, Swamp Rat *was* the gateway drug to INFI!
