How did you find out about BladeForums?

Link from somewhere. Maybe a search engine, maybe another knife-related site like the BAKCA? I do remember that I was looking for a new pocket knife at the time and thinking that $50 was a lot of money to pay for a knife.

Didn't take long to get sucked into the mania!

Let no one ever from henceforth say one word in any way countenancing war. It is dangerous even to speak of how here and there the individual may gain some hardship of soul by it. For war is hell, and those who institute it are criminals. Siegfried Loraine Sassoon

Doing a search for knives lead me here. I had been looking for places to buy knives, and learn more about them. I stumbled onto this place shortly after finding Knifecenter. My tastes in knives have changed greatly, and my knowledge multiplied a thousand fold. This place is great!

I was looking for information on an old Schrade swithchblade and found bladeforums through a search engine.I never expected to return after my initial question was answered, but I guess I got hooked since that was a year ago!

"Just me and my multi-tools."

I found-out about this site from a post on slashdot.org. That's a news site for anything related computers, especially open source. There was a thread about multi-tools, and someone mentioned the Spyderco card. They had a link to a post here. I'm glad I found this site!

i stumbled into the #bladeforums.com chatroom one night on mIRC not knowing why...(moth to a flame syndrome, i think). i happened to meet PhilL there and he guided me to this wonderful place.

regards,
bill o.

as an aside..also that night, a few gentlemen (and i use that term loosely)
biggrin.gif
urged me to start a "maddog vs. busse" thread here in General. and, it was PhilL that jumped in quickly and shouted "DONT!!"...i didn't understand any of it then, but, i say 'thanks' to you now, Phil.

Someday, we'll look back on this, laugh nervously and change the
subject.

I'm still very much a newbie, I registered only recently but have been reading for quite some time now.
I just have to tell you guys how I found this place ...

first a short intro:
I used to be crazy about knives (as a kid really) and I had a small but highly treasured collection. Then one day, shortly after getting my own place, I had some uninvited guests .... My home was burglarized and the collection I had been building in the previous 15 years was stolen ! If I could get my hands on those guys
mad.gif
.
I was so heartbroken (and broke), my knife collecting days were over
frown.gif

I don't know how I managed to repress the virus for so long, but anyway ...

One day, years later, I was busy expressing my opinions on a forum about ...... don't remember.
I wanted to emphasize a post by making it bold. Since I didn't know how to do this, I searched the web for "UBB-code".
I found the UBB page of bladeforums !!
I was going to close the browser window, but something made me check out the main page ...... it was like a fever hit me !
I've been reading bladeforums everyday since then (drives my girlfriend crazy
biggrin.gif
)

Bladeforums has enriched my life !

I had never even heard of Chris Reeve before visiting this place, but now I'm the very proud owner of a small Sebenza
smile.gif

The virus is back with a vengeance !
I visit a local knifestore almost on a daily basis. It has very few good knives, but it's the best I've found over here.
I wish I lived in the US, knife collecting in Europe sucks and is very expensive.

Sorry for the long post, but I had to get this off my chest. Being here feels like destiny to me.

While doing an AltaVista search for a specific knife. I agree with Mr. Clark, AltaVista, MY favorite search engine has cost me a bunch of dough!

But I would never have met so many knowledgable and interesting people.

I forget how I got here. I have been looking for the way out for a year and a half, and I Still can't find the exit. Help!

Like many others, all alone in their own little knifeworld, I was surfing (for knife sites of coarse) one night and performed a search for "knives". Up popped a list of almost every current BF discussions/threads/topics that were running at the time. (*Note-That Mike T. guy sure knows his webmastering stuff!!!)
I clicked on one of these topics and I was in. Many days (about 2 weeks I think) of lurking & learning and then I signed up.

The rest is blissful history!!

Found link on some forgotten site to Knife Forums. Went there, almost immediately saw something about Blade Forum. Came over same nite, registered, and have averaged 10+ hours per day since. (We disabled types have more choice in using our time.)

Bugs

From knife forums. There was a thread on there that had this sight in it WAAAAAAAAAY back when bladeforums first started up because of the "bad things" that went on between mike and others over there.

Oct. '98, some of us were in the old pre mIRC chat room talking about KF and stuff like girlie bars and the people that visit them. :O Spark comes in and says be the first to sign up at the new place, so we did. IIRC, Strider (Bob) had THE VERY FIRST POST at BF by a regular human being, and not "Staff", but he and DC got into a spat about it. LOL! Too bad that was lost somehow in the archives. I fumbled up my e-mail address to register or I'da beat everybody since I was running the only cable modem at the time, and had a lot faster connection
wink.gif
. Still, I have the dubious distiction of having:
The only profile which shows the bulk of my posts are BEFORE my registered date. hehe, I kinda like that
wink.gif

I did a search on Altavista for some knife-related keywords, and I found BladeForums. I lurked around awhile before deciding to join, since I have a lot in common with a lot of you guys.
I collect knives, batons, handcuffs and other "offensive" stuff, the more suspect it is regarded, the more fun it is to collect it.
