How did you find your Becker? Or, how did you become completely obssesed?

Was looking for a survival/bushcraft knife. Came across the BK2 and saw the mods that were done to it and to the sheath making them customized, I decided to get one. And there's not many knives out there that is a 1/4" thick, you know you can depend on the BK2

I had been looking for a small EDC fixed blade. I had seen some nice ones, and was eyeballing an izula. That was somewhat around the same time that the Eskabar started showing up. Did some research, read about it and I ended up buying one since it was cheaper than the izzy, and had a longer blade.
I then starting showing up in this subforum I guess, and I like it here. The 14 has served me well the past year, and a few months ago it was joined by a 16 which I like as well.
Next up will probably be a 24, just because I'm so happy with the 14 and I'd like a chance to try out D2. Next might be a 15. But I also think I need a 9. And a 17. And an 11. Maybe a 2 as well... Hmm.

I found BFC because I'm an ESEE homer and just happened to be googling fixed blades. bladeforums kept popping up so i lurked the forums for a year or two. The bk9 popped up all the time and i really thought every thread i came across in the BK&T was hilarious. After flipping through a few pages of the dedicated bk9 picture thread one evening at about midnight, "the throne room," i pulled the trigger and have since converted from an esee nut to a beckerhead. :D

I didn't find my becker, it found me... Seriously. I wasn't even into knives when i got my BK-2. But i am now.

i first saw the E2E vids on youtube then i found this place i awlays thought the knives looked awsome then too see what a great guy Ethan is i said wow i want too own those knives because KaBar and Ethan Becker are straight up good people and i like buying quality products from good folks.

Over the years id been using esee knives as my blade of choice in the bush. Due to that fact, I fell completely in love with properly cooked 1095. I had taken my izzy 2 and my esee 3 on a solo four day trek not far from where I live, and on day 2 I ran across a couple guys on atv's that had broke down. They had waterlogged a honda foreman in a mud hole that would swallow a full sized truck, and was fighting a losing battle to pull it out with a smaller polaris of some sort? I volunteered to help, being the awesome and amazingly great guy that I am, and in the process of using tree limbs and big sticks to give the polaris more traction, a large limb got crammed between the axle and frame. There was no pulling or prying it out.
We finally got the honda on dry land, and the guys started draining the gas and changing the spark plug and stuff, and I sat in on removing the limb from the polaris.
Long story short, I broke the izzy 2 about an inch from the tip, and completely destroyed the edge on the esee 3.
When I finally got back home, I started browsing to find replacements for both blades. Right around that time was when the becker/esee 14 collaboration was released. I thought the extra blade length would be nice, but who was this becker guy? With some research, I came across the 2 also. This forum gave both the 14 and 2 great reviews, so I pulled the trigger.
To date, I own 9 beckers, and no esees lol. They are perfect for my needs.
So how did I come to use Becker knives? Quite simply by the way of Honda, Polaris, Esee, and two slightly ignorant rednecks :D

Fave story so far.

Outstanding, simply outstanding.

For me it starts a few years back, I had pretty much stopped going outdoors in college without realizing it. About the time that I started wondering why I hated walls so much, I met our own DerekH; and after a few conversations and "look at this's" I ended up here: fewer walls and more steel=better state of affairs.

I'm not sure why or how I ended up on YouTube watching E2E video's, or was it browsing knives on the bay, looking for a fixed blade knife to replace a stolen hand made damascus. I had a hand full of fixed blades from CRKT OutDoor Edge Western ect... I first looked at Anza file knives and while liking the idea, there were no styles that suited me. On to Esse blades and then Becker's. Now Which one, the 16 looks cool, but the 2 is cheaper?
Well the 2 won the toss and now cheaper is a thing of the past. A 14 and 24 found their way to my pack and as luck would have it, so did a 15. The pack is still a little light yet and has enough room for a "big" blade...............

You need a BK9. You can't not have a 9.

I started like many others, searching for survival knives. Then I came across E2Es videos on the bk2 then looked on youtube for others on the bk2 and fell in love. After I got my bk2 I picked up a 14 then a 9 then a FPR16 then a 11 and 15 then won a FFG 16 in one of the challenges hosted here along with 14 I won over at the K-bar subforum (really generous people on BF, It really amazes me) and most recently I picked up a 24 I have yet to use yet. I really liked the ergonomics of the 2 when I first got my hands on it then after finding this place I knew I needed a king. The bk9 is still my favorite Becker hands down. I can say with confidence that that is one knife I'm never letting go of.

Now pictures

awesome 16 that I won in a contest from the generous Moose! love the way micarta looks on it.

Long live the king

When I was deployed to Bosnia in '96, I found an AG Russell catalog that someone dropped near the pax terminal. I looked through it and I saw the Campanion/BK2, so I ordered one and it showed up pretty quickly. It replaced the AF Pilot's Survival Knife on my LBE.

Awe man what a thread!! Great job guys! So here's my story! Over the last year I got into prepping or at least trying to then kinda fell away from it! A few months ago while hanging out at work playing around on YouTube I came across a Chanel by kentuckylakeprepper and became very intersted in his prepping/woodsman/reviews on there!! When he done a review of the BK-2, Batoning what in the world is he talking about then I saw what he ment!! Completely flabbergasted that a knife could do this I said to myself I must own this knife!! After doing some searching around and shopping here and there I found 1 at sportsmans warehouse about an hour and 15 min from me! One day while out with the wife having snuck back a little change I had my opertunity she went into hobby lobby next door and me and my son ran to SW lol I asked the guy behind the counter if I could hold it!! After fondling it for about 20 min pondering and thinking I wasn't happy with the price point so I walked out side giving up thinking ill just order it off line and wait (I HATE to wait) and save about 3.00 lol while walking outside te BSOA just happen to be selling coupons oooooo how I love coupons I bought a pack of them which had 10 off of 50 or more walked back in and whammy she was mine!! Now the race was on I had to sneak this big freaking piece of steel into the car with out wifey finding out and being to curious! Then one day I got to talking to bsmith_shoot an showed him what I had purchased and he told me about this forum and being apart of the BH I thought heck yeah so the rest is history!! Sorry it's so long but that's my story!!

Discovery of tommythewho, the most beautiful wood to go on the most beautiful fixed blades. All my Beckers must have those handles, no excuse.

Someone on a Survivalist Forum mentioned a knife "...it's like quarter inch prybar" and I had to check it out. Found out this knife was so much more than a prybar. This knife turned out to be what I bought a week later, a BK2.

I want to know everyone's story on how they found Becker Knives....was it a buddy? Was it a random review? What is your story?

I honestly cannot remember what started the spark. It may have been one of those youtube black holes that sucks you in. But I found myself very quickly obsessing about getting a BK2. Now I have one........now I'm obsessing about getting a 24, 11...9....sigh.

It was quite simple...after buying a ESEE Izula, I noticed that Becker collaborated with ESEE on a similar knife, and after perusing the KA-Bar site, I decided that I would buy the Necker. After scouring the net for the best price, I came upon the Amazon site and saw an Amazon exclusive necker which included a tan sheath, the KB metal clip, the micarta scales, and for the piece de resistance, it was partially serrated. Thinking that this was something from those pirates on alwallydummybaba.com who sell those pirated fake copies of well known knife brands, I called KB and had to ask if what Amazon was selling was the real deal; well, they said yes, and that it was only made for and to be sold only by Amazon, but it was real. Well, I bought two, one for the safe, and one to be sent out to one of our members who specializes in knife customizations, where I will just have some jimping added, and then have it duracoated. I thought I had it bad for my Spyderco's and ESEE's, but damn, Mr Becker's creations are addictive.

I was on Ron Hoods website a couple of yrs ago and in the section of survival kits there was a guy who built a survival kit called the sass and the container of the kit was the handle of a becker (grivory)...that brought me back to my youth when i was obsessed with survival knives and for some reason these handles appealed to me...i wanted a becker knife to i guess in some way have a more "adult" and utilitarian and less cheesy survival knife.
The guy actually wore the grivory handles around his neck as his kit along with the wrench.
That's my story...pretty weird.
YES!! I FOUND IT!! This guy created this in 2001..check it out as it might give you some cool ideas as it has to me..cheers
