How do you answer when someone ask you why you EDC?

No one would ask that around here.
If you didn't have a knife they may ask you why not.

Just answer that you enjoy having it for the random task that requires it - then give them a few examples. Depending on the person and the knife, you could follow that up with a bit of knife education like history of the brand you're carrying, types of steels, blade shape and uses. After a little education may lead to you having somebody else carry in your office.

Some here. I don't think I'd ever get that question around here. I suppose if I did I'd just say that i have every right to do so and that I find it very useful and couldn't get through a day without one.

I ask them what they carry a pen for. They tell me they might need to write something down. I say exactly.

Just thought I would point out that a lot of Southern states actually have kind of draconian knife laws. Firearm laws vary, but the knife laws are pretty much universally bad.

Don't know about that. Everyone here carries a knife. Even as late as high school, all the boys carried pocket knives, openly. No one cared. Some of us even had rifles and shotguns in our trucks and cars. We shot guns at school.

Oh, the horror. Can you imagine that today? LOL

It's not about the knife, or the gun. Its about the character of the person behind it. And sadly, that has degraded to the point where a chicken nugget shaped like a gun can get you suspended. Sad. This is not the America I grew up in. You will reap what you sow. Take God out of schools and the schools become zoo's.

i have been asked so much i just get to the point were i say because i want to or becasue i can or becasue i enjoy exersising the constition

I tell them I carry a knife in case I need to cut something. I don't get asked very often though.

I've been carrying a knife since I was six years old,I'm not stopping now.

All political / religious comments belong in the Political Arena. We have plenty of soapboxes in that forum if you need to borrow one. :)

If you're super worried about how people use the English Language, you must go nuts on a daily basis. I'm all about proper grammar, I use it. But the majority of people in the world don't. No reason to freak out about it, just get used to it.

Anyways, when people ask why I carry I knife I tell them for regular every day uses, such as mail, boxes, threads, tags, tape, etc. I prefer to have a good knife to use rather than having to rip at something or try to use my door or car key as a blade.

As far as my pen and flashlight, people don't ask about them so much anymore. They used to ask about my flashlight the most but stopped asking after I would answer with "The same reason you have one in your house or car, in case the lights go out or you need to look for something in the dark."
You don't use proper grammar.

I say to them: Do you ever notice that when you need to cut something, you never seem to have a knife ? They always say "Yeah." Then i say: well, that never happens to me because i carry one. It must SUCK to be you !!! LOL :D
