How do you carry your traditional pocket knives?

But some do wear buttondowns with an undershirt, and not everyone likes to go commando! Bandanna's are cool and make a lot of sense, but then again, if I use my bandana to wipe my sweat, my nose, or something nastier, I'm probably not going to want it oozing into my knife.
That's true, I normally carry two bandannas. One for cleaning my knife and one for everything else.

I carry a small Norwex rag that my wife sells for wiping my blade. It works great and isn't too big.

Bandanas are huge compared to most slips. I don't have enough pocket real estate for some folded/bunched up wad of cloth. That said, only my GEC TC14 and 83 ride in pocket slips. Everything else just sits in the pocket. Peanut and Maratac AAA in the watch pocket, SAK on a suspension clip in either the LRP or Left Cargo pocket, and whatever other knife I decide to carry goes with the phone in the RFP.

I just had someone ask me how I keep my slipjoints from getting scratched up after I said I don’t like slips. I posted this video up as a response.
Cool video, Alchemy!:cool::cool: Another example of the saying, "Clothes make the man." ;) Your pants have some very nice pockets for a knife knut!:thumbsup:

There's a number of threads that show up if you search "how carry" and ask for threads only and this sub forum only. I've found the new search function better then the previous. I've also used google advanced search and it's a great tool.
That said, as Gary mentioned, a new thread is not always a bad thing. Especially since the recent PB ransom on our images.

Oh, I'll also add traditional to the title so we don't see a lot of modern knives showing up.

Not wanting to de-rail this thread so please delete my post if you feel necessary. But the search function very rarely works for me but maybe I’m doing something wrong???
Feel free to shoot me a pm or anyone else that doesn’t seem to have a problem with it . So I can know the secret to it’s success lol .

Buck 110 goes on my belt in the supplied leather when carried, my Vic tinker clips in my pocket by a homemade suspension clip when carried, and everything else basically just goes loose in pocket when carried.

Left front pocket, no slip. I’m right handed, so I don’t know why I carry in my left pocket. I’m 71now, been doing it that way since I was six, so I probably won’t change.
:D:thumbsup::thumbsup: Can't blame you for staying with what works, or at least what you're used to! ;)

I’ll also make mention of the “buckaroo pouch,” used by a lot of cowboys. I have two that were made by Horsewright. Basically a leather slip that attaches to your belt loop with a leather thong. Comes out mighty quick when you need your knife, and the pouch can just hang until you’re done cutting. Most efficient leather slip I’ve found.

Trout Hound Trout Hound any pictures of the “buckaroo pouch “ ?

I went and snapped a few, by special request! The knife in the middle is a Case 6318 (3 5/8”), to give you some idea of size. The pouch on the left is Horsewright’s standard “small” Folding Knife Pouch. He says it will fit anything up to a Case/Moore Maker trapper. The pouch on the right is one that he was kind enough to make for me by special request, out of veg tan leather instead of chrome tan. Both pouches work great. As you can see, the 6318 fits completely inside the pouch, but comes out easily enough when needed.

I carried them loose for years and the past two I bought some belt sheath's and made some pocket slips to protect them!

I like my KSF slip for “Sunday knives,” where I am only expecting minor cutting tasks to arise. But, for most everyday purposes, it just felt like it took forever to get to my knife. Except for having a knife loose in a dedicated pocket, the buckaroo pouch is the fastest way I’ve found to get to it (sometimes it’s faster, if you have on gloves and several layers of clothing.) Sometimes I just run out of pockets, and it’s nice to give the knife a bit of protection (and security) and still be able to access it quickly.

I carry small knives in the watch pocket of my jeans or slacks. If I am carrying a larger knife I will usually put it in a slip to prevent it coming out of my pocket.

Front right pocket. I try not to put anything else in there. On a VERY rare occasion I use a slip. Maybe twice a year.

My traditional goes in my right front pocket. Leatherman on my belt. It took me a while to find it, but I like this particular combination.
