Hello all,

I was wonderin how everyone carried their traditional knives. I have a problem with mine falling out of my pocket sometimes if i sit down. Thats why i usually just carry a knife with a clip. But i really love the looks of an old case much more than a flashy folder. I thought about making a kydex rig that clips to my pocket, but im not sure.

So let me know how yall carry your knives everyday!

Mine (a Case SBJ) sits in my front right pocket when I'm at work, every once in I a while I'll put it in my shirt pocket but not very often. If I'm at home or out and about I tend to favor (when I have one) a watch pocket.

just carry a folded bandana on top of it in the same pocket...

that's what I do.

take care
Peter

More often than not I find that work slacks or khakis are the culprits in situations like this. Unfortunately not all occupations allow for wearing jeans all day and I do sorely miss the watch pocket when this happens. Some have recommended sewing a small meta-pocket within your actual pocket, to hold small knives more securely. You could try a leather pocket slip to make the whole assembly 'stick' more (though some malign these "knife purses" ;)). You could look at pocket sheaths with a clip, as some have posted here before. I like Carl's method of putting a wadded up handkerchief in the pocket on top of your knife--that helps regardless of what pants you're wearing.

alright. thanks guys. I just get sorta "scared" whenever my knife is tumbling around in my pocket.. I always have to check my pockets every now and then, Jeans are fine because of where the pockets are. I have thought about making a leather neck pouch to keep it in along with a bic lighter or something else that i carry everyday. I just cant get myself to carry my case in my pocket. im just TERRIFIED to lose it, i mean yeah i could replace it if i did lose it, but still.

It´s a how big the knife is. A Trapper pattern I usually carry in my left backpocket. Any smaller knives (Jacks, Stockman etc) I carry in my left front pocket. I´m a lefty ;)

The Peanut or a little Schrade Stockman usually get in the coinpocket of the jeans. I never lost a knife (and hoping this will never happen).

Kind regards
Andi

I carry mine open, squeezing the blade edge(s) against the palm and/or fingers of my hand so that I know for sure I haven't dropped or misplaced one of them throughout the day. The blood is alternately sticky or slippery, but good edges keep the blades embedded decently. If the blades slip too much, that's a sign that it's time to sharpen them again-- though LKJW's drop test sounds like a promising alternative, a preventative diagnostic.

(Haven't lost a traditional out of a front pocket yet, whether regular or watch. However, neither have I noticed them trying to make their way out, as you have-- that would give me cause for concern as well.)

I'm currently wearing pants with 9 pockets,if i lose knife it is probably in one of other 8 pockets ;) ((five of them are closed in some way)

I agree with Andi. The only traditional I usually carry us in my right front pocket. This is a large Case toothpick.

I have a Mission wallet. It has two pockets on the front. I carry the smaller ones in the pocket. The bigger ones I carry in a leather back pocket sheath.

After most of my adult life in jeans, the last few years I've discovered mil-spec cargo pants. The main side side pockets are a lot like the dockers, so if I carry my peanut in that pocket, I still just shove a wadded up bandana down on top of the knife. Haven't lost one yet. Same technique with dress pants.

I've thought about carrying the kife in the big flap and button closed cargo pocket, but then I couldn't use it as a worry stone.

Carl.

I tend to wear cargo pants and shorts with pretty deep pockets for work. So far, no issues knives falling out, even when I lay down for a quick nap in the afternoon.

I've actually had a couple pairs of khakis that had a smaller pocket inside of the RF pocket. It was pretty much the perfect size for a pocket knife, so I'm wondering if that was intentional..

I have more trouble with clip knives working loose from my pocket than slip joints.

Slip joints when carried in jeans can ride in the front, back or watch pocket.

As a bulky alternative, there are a number of small knife sheaths with pocket clips.

Well, sheath carrying is a little worrying for me. If it is a sheath without a clip and without being able to close it from above I don´t really like to carry it on the belt. If the sheath like the Buck 110 and 112 is with, I have no problems. But when it´s just clipped on the belt and just the knife is slipped into the sheath, I don´t wanna carry it. I made the experience, that a clip sheath can be easily lost.

I prefer keeping my knives in any pocket of the pants or the jacket.

Kind regards
Andi

I carried my Case Mini Trapper in my front right pocket today. Wearing Khaki shorts. i went fishing, and i didnt notice my knife coming close to the mouth of the pocket. Im gonna try this for this next week.

Left front pocket for me. I carry my keys in the right and don't want my knife to get scratched up.
