How do you comfortably carry your fixed blades?

I have carried my fixed blade in a horizontal crossdraw sheath for decades. I'm a strong advocate for that. Now granted I tend to prefer a relatively small fixed blade knife. My current EDC is approx 5.75 inches oal. The reality is whether in the shop or on the ranch I don't need a knife with a three to four inch or larger blade. I use a knife to cut/slice things. I have a chainsaw, an axe a splitter etc. So I don't use it to make firewood. So I might be cutting a calf, doctoring a cow, opening a package in the shop, a feed sack or a bale of hay. The horizontal crossdraw suits my needs. Its out of the way, I can get to it quickly if needed with either hand and its comfortable whether riding a horse, roping a calf, driving a truck or on foot fixing fence or in the shop doing leatherwork and making knives. Ya just forget about it till ya need it. It just rides there above my left front pocket:

The ladies around here tend to favor just behind the left hip:

I've found that sub 7" oal seems to be right for this type of carry. Both my own feedback and from customers. Ya get much over that and you do start catching it on things.

Lots of good replies folks. Pictures are fantastic, I appreciate them all.

Especially for mid size blades makes sitting in cars no problem

I've found this to be my favorite setup. It doesn't get in the way when sitting down, it doesnt dig into my side, and it's still relatively concealed. It doesn't work as well once you start getting to bigger blades, say around six inches of blade length.

I made this rig over 20 years ago. I don't carry like this now (in fact I don't carry a FB now), but there was a time when I did carry this way, which is why I made it. But concealed carry is illegal in my state, and there came a point when I wanted to stay on the right side of the law.

It's fully adjustable, not only in how it fits my body, but I can also adjust the angle of the knife (you can see the adjustment buckle on the front strap holding the sheath). With the exception of the two leather loops attached to the sheath, the rest is made of nylon web strap. I always wore a jacket when I carried like this.

It was the most comfortable because it didn't jab me in the side when I sat in a chair/booth/movie theater seat/etc. I didn't know it was there (and neither did anyone else ;) ).

I've wanted to make something like This for awhile now....looks Great

I carry all sorts of different fixed blades in all sorts of different ways in all sorts of different places. Often it's on a belt, occasionally scout carried. Other times in a haversack I carry my smaller tools in around the woodlot. Often strapped to a pack or stashed in an accessible pack pouch. Sometimes around my neck if it's a tiny fixed blade. Sometimes in a jacket pocket and it's not uncommon to just put the sheath in my front pocket in grab and go situations in the immediate yard.

I carry a 3" fixed blade horizontally on my belt with a TekLok, which I did not think I would like. Now I forget it's there and check several times a day to make sure it's still there, it is so comfortable. Especially for drawing while seated/kneeling. The first minute of the video shows it nicely.
