How do you feel about smart watches ?

I've been through like 10 fitbits. They are not worth it. Makes me think an apple watch would die after a short while. The money would be better spent investing into an actual watch.

Plus more and more notifications will just drive you nuts. Or distract you from the world around you.

This is the single most reason to have a smart watch for me. I miss calls a lot because I laid the phone down somewhere and don't hear it ring. I don't own a smart watch; just another expensive widget or so my attitude has been to date. But I have been considering changing or trying one out. A lot of people seem to like them a lot. The style aspect means nothing to me.

The only good thing about smart watches to me is that many kids today just use their cell phones as their time piece and I really don't understand that at all. So, with the popularity of a smart watch, they have the wrist watch....

Question: Is the vibrate feature for a phone call or alarm pretty aggressive? That is for the hearing deficient folks like me. If I knew it was aggressive, I'd get one and wear it to bed and use as my alarm. Nobody has ever answered this question and dismiss it .... of course it vibrates or can vibrate..... but how aggressive is the vibration?

The vibration feature is agressive enough to let you know that there is a notification (alarm, call, notification). I have not slept in mine so I don't know about sleeping. Get to a store, try one on and set it to vibrate and you will see if it works for you.

I'be been a watch enthusiast for many years. I recently started wearing a smart watch; specifically an Apple Watch Series 3. Note that I do not have a single notification enabled on the watch. I simply use it for a fitness tracker and to tell time. When I'm working out I use it for music control, workout info, etc. I tried an Apple Watch a few years ago and didn't like it because the screen was so small for actual productive usage. Once I tempered expectations and scope of usability I appreciate it much more.

I have always wanted a Rolex and started seriously researching the model I'd be purchasing. However, I have read numerous stories about the life-saving capabilities of the heart rate sensor in the Apple Watch. From you and old, healthy and ill. The Apple Watch has revolutionized the watch industry without questions. I have put my Rolex purchase on hold as I determine if the Apple Watch is a serious long-term watch I will use. Overall, I really like a smart watch much more than I expected. I highly recommend you give an Apple Watch a try.
