How do YOU! get away with it???????

okay, important paradigm shift (yes, i had to use that word) ;)

you are not "getting away with it"... that implies you are doing something wrong. you're not. this is a normal thing. everyday. you're hobby. you're interest. you're pursuit.

now, do you have some kind of agreement in place? no? then you're not getting away with anything. is the agreement being implied, coerced, or forced? maybe? non-binding then. you have to agree of your free will without coercion ;)

so, there you have it. you have to re-program yourself. this isn't a bank robbery. this isn't a get away :)

zippy doo dah baby
I'm with Bladite on this one, once you gotta start negotiating or asking permission for gear like this you got way bigger problems. May as well just ask for your balls back at the same time. Thats just me though.

Well let see...... I started dating this lady, for 2 weeks, then i left to go Elk hunting in Colorado for 2 weeks. When I got back we resumed dating.......so being the clever individual I am......... this was in 1983 mind you. Well long story short, I chose wisely, (not so sure about her judgment though), we are still husband and wife 28 years later.

As long as all of my/our obligations are met........I do my thing how, when & where I want. (and conversely so does she).

I've been literally around the world hunting, and fishing with no plans to stop any time soon. Argentina bird hunting this year!

From a fiscal standpoint this all sounds very fair and reasonable, but, what about the time spent ONLINE in these forums? You can burn a few hours without even trying!!!

I have 5 boys, all knife freaks. Democracy works. She has uses every knife I've purchased for her. I often ask her which knife she likes the best and why. I ask her what she doesn't like about a design. If I see a deign which is a better fit, I buy it for her. Occasionally, I'll stuck with a knife that doesn't fit her. Her favorites are the Spyderco Michael Walker and the Native for folders. She has a Kershaw fixed blade recurve she uses in the kitchen. In the camp, she likes the CS Trailmaster over the BK&T Brute.

Whenever my g/f tells me I have too many knives, I tell her to get back to the kitchen where she belongs and make me a samich!!

In all reality she would probably neuter me if she saw that comment! She doesn't mind my knife fetish as long as I use them.

Oh, and by the way, I'm new here my name is Ted. I really like what you guys have going on here and hope I can stimulate the conversation! I've always been a knife nut, but about a year ago I bought a BK2 by chance and have been in love with Becker ever since!

My wife doesn't bitch and complain b/c of one simple reason: work ethic. She knows I work my effin ass off, and am responsible with our $$$. So yeah, I may blow some dollars on a new knife, or shotgun, but I have earned that piece. She also knows she gets to use whatever I buy - knives are no big deal to her, but once she started shooting my shotguns she was hooked - hence her Christmas present being a Mossberg SA-20! I got major kudos for that one -totally surprised her and she was thrilled. Although she has been nosing around a Blind Horse knife I recently got... may have to hide that one ;)

And therein lies the rub...:D

The choices are to remove yourself from the computer and better yourself, or just go with the flow 'til you are insensitive to it like the rest of us...:p

My wife doesn't really say anything. I try to keep temptation to a minimum. Usually spend $50 +/- every other month on knives. This month was a Skeletool. Only reason I got it was I lost my Delica and needed a decent folder for work. Got it for $36 which I feel isn't bad.

I get away with buying whatever i want, because the only law i obey is CONTRACT LAW.

Show me a contract honey, signed by TWO persons, (you and me), a contract stating i will not buy new knives or gear monthly etc etc. ;)

whats that? there is NO contract? oh i see.....:D

well then, gonna go buy more knives now dear, love you.....:D

How does everyone spend so much time, money, and energy on their knives/guns/gear without their wives or girlfriends riding their asses about it?

Just got to pick the right one. My girlfriend loves the outdoors, she is really into plants which is something I am lacking in so its nice to learn from her.

She would rather be burning things, hiking, sleeping outside, and drinking cheap beer with me by the train tracks waiting to catch a train.

I drink Dos Equis. It let's you get away with stuff because your cool. Or at the very least you can blame it on I don't remember I was drunk.
