How do you haul your gear?

Thanks for taking the time to post all of that! That is an excellent rig that is modular and that's always great!

My girlfriend told me to tell you to put the lid down when your done. :p

I had a friend back in the early 90s and his wife made him sit to take a squirt. I left the seat up over at their house and she went ballistic! I don't get the big deal about all of this, if it's just me at home for the day and I go leave a leak and have to leave a dump later, it's not like I'm so stupid I sit on the rim of the bowl, I tend to look where I am going to sit down, after all. :D

I use a regular backpack for day hikes as well as camping. My gf uses a Mountainsmith Tour lumbar pack. I like the lumbar pack and I think I'd like to try that idea out. I would appreciate hearing suggestion for something similar to a military buttpack, but not so tactical/military looking.

Also, I would also appreciate seeing pictures of the way you haul your gear on your outdoor outings.

Thanks much!

well for 2-3 day hikes I use my go lite gust ultra light pack.
it holds 30 pounds at the most.

I tend toward using my U.S. Army 3 day assault bag for anything longer then an overnighter. My "go kit"/CERT/ARES/BOB bag is a Maxpedition Typhoon. Only a single shoulder strap (monostrap) that goes cross body, but I find it much more comfortable then standard shoulder straps. Both have 1.8liter Hydro bladders.

When I got out for a week or more, I tend toward my Lowe packs for summer, and my huge EMS Blackfoot for winter. The EMS is the only pack I have ever had that I can carry 60+LBS in comfortably mile after mile.

As the person usually carrying the stuff for the rest of the family I was thinking of making up something like a travios on wheels.

a bit like this

but for gear not kids.

Its hard being a gear nut and staying to one Pack. I float from a camelbak hawg in dirty places, to a nice haversack by Duluth when I'm trying not to look like a dirty sock, to an all black northface that I got for 3 dollars at a flea market. All this, and I still think about buying new packs, not to mention my go lite bag and my arcteryx bora 80

Ha! :D Ain't that the truth. I'm in the process of picking up one of those mil version HAWGs, and I'll be switching back and forth between that and my osprey depending on activity.
