How do you hold a kerambit?

2) Take a good look at the picture of the War Hog. The feature that makes it unique from all other Karambits so far is the position of the ring. Instead of coming straight out of the handle right at the butt, it is slightly canted towards the belly of the handle and theres a slight indent at the end of the handle.
When you hold it in the extended grip, your middle finger rides in this indent and the knife is braced against the fist.
You really have to hold a War Hog to appreciate how much more control, comfort, and leverage this small change gives you. Jerry is a master of design and I seriously predict that this is how everyone will make theirs once people get a hold of one.

PS- Any takers on that snowblower/daughter trade?
I believe the phrase here is:

"This thread is useless without pictures!"

as would i... i've just used a ninja keychain (the kind with the 2 spikes coming out of your knuckles) in stabbing drills on solid objects (wood and stone), and it really honestly feels like its going to break the insides of your fingers having a peice of metal bang on them like it does.

holding a karembit like that looks to be an awefully similar situation. it looks to have no real control of left or right torque without putting strain on a rather small bone, and no real control in general as to being able to get any pressure out of the cut without being in a rather ackward position - and even getting cuts off, the counter pressure of the entire knife is resting on a small peice of metal thats resting on the back of your middle finger.

if it works it works, but it looks like a very bad set up to me

As with most weapons not all are for everyone and some require a bit more training than others. The Karambit in my opinion is a very simple design and is very nautural to use however it's one of those types of weapons that require a simple but basic hands on in its use. Maybe we can meet up sometime (Blade) and I can show you some basic drills if you're not already familiar with it. :)

i beleive as well that the karambit can be above and beyond other designs for natural ease of use and ability in slashing power and depth. i just dont like the extended grip, or putting your knife on one finger - under any circumstances for any reason.

You don't have to use the extended position if you don't want to, you can perform most strikes, slashes and stabs without using the extended position.

You guys are pussies!
We don't need no stink'in trainer!!!!

The Karambit is a control weapon that can be used to inflict damage at the same time.

You extend to grab and pull into a control position or slash areas like the under side of the upper arm.
Go for the inside of the thigh if you have been knocked down and are under attack.
From one that started playing with one of these in a war zone, you would be amazed at the reaction when you flip one of these out in attack mode.

AND....you don't think all those old Cowboys were worried about safety when they spun those 45's do you?

SPIN IT....have fun you won't hurt yourself any more than spinning those nun-chuks for the 1st time ;)

NOW get out there a spin that puppy and quit being such a baby!!!!

AND...the offset ring in those other pictures are nothing like the Busse.
The Busse offers support from the macarta handle material that the others don't, they are different animals.
I'm not to sure I would even run a couple of those through any drills, let alone attempt to use them for self defence...piss poor designs if you ask me.

wich is why i say the ones i showed arent to the extent that the busse is, or even meant for the same thing really. just that the feature is present on other karambits out there

for those interested check out sayoc.com and look at their karambit dvd. these are the guys that did the knife fighting in the movie "the hunted" and are the real deal when it comes to knives and karambits. fwiw they don't mess around with the extended grip either for cqb
