How do you justify spending so much $ on a knife?

Quality costs. No one wants to pay too much, but paying too little is worse.

Back when I was an electrician, the old guy in the shop had a Snap-on screw starter. Snap-on truck wanted $20+ for one, (about half a day's pay) I found one that looked the same at Sears for $4. It broke the 3rd day. No problem, Craftsman's guaranteed for life... except not having a working tool till I get back to Sears...3rd trip for a replacement I got my money back and bought the Snap-on the next day. 30 years later it still works...

I used to buy boots at K-Mart, they lasted 3-4 months, cost $40. Then I splurged and bought a pair of $120 boots, they lasted over a year. Probably a wash in money, but I saved 2 trips to K-Mart...

Will the $100-200 knives I'm using now last longer than the $20-50 knives I used to carry? Time will tell. But so far they mostly are, and they open and close easier, and have more solid locks, better fit and finish, etc. If I have my pants on, I'm carrying a knife. It might as well be the best quality knife that I can afford...
