You add micarta scales.:D Here is a SAK nomad with Blue/grey denim micarta scales which I made myself. I'm real pleased with it but wish it had a saw for bushcraft. It is however great for a slim EDC around town.

I'm real pleased with how it turned out. Now the real question, should I do my one hand fireman in blaze orange or OD green?:D

Wow that looks great! Excellent work.

Go blaze orange! Even though I love OD.

Great job, 3wolves.

You were waiting for a Bravo1 weren't you? If so, did you get it yet?

I got mine and I absolutely love it. It feels like it was custom moulded to my hand.

Excellent - looks like greatly improved ergonomics. I find those little corkscrews do get in the way sometimes especially if they loosen up.

Where are the pics:grumpy::D. Nope not yet but it should be here monday by the latest. Just hope it doesn't get held by customs. It has to come all the way from Michigan.:grumpy:

Nice bro.
You make the micarta yourself?
Thinking of doing that, any tips.

Here ya go,

Its not hard but I have a few tips.

- Don't mix alot of the resin and hardener at the same time, it dries incredibly fast (6-7 mins for it to become useless.
- It is really messy and the resin doesn't come off of your clothes or hands, use disposable gloves
- After you put a strip of material on the pile, peel it off halfway to make sure it is stuck. It isn't more often than not, the material drinks alot of resin in and you need a thin layer between the fabric.
- Do not do it indoors, the smell is friggin terrible and lingers for a long time.

No pictures - I should be doing a review on a couple of others - Bravo is going to tag along.

No problems with customs - mine came from KnivesShipFree and it came very quickly. Thanks muchly, Derrick! Great service! :D

Seems like 3wolves uses a resin with shorter pot life than the one I use. I usually get about 20-30 minutes out of it. When using blue denim from old jeans I do 14-16 strips (it is pretty thick and that's enough for handle slabs) in less than 10 minutes (from mixing the resin to clamping down the slab). When I do other colors with thinner cloth I have to be quicker (many more layers... because the fabric is way thinner) and maybe skimp a little bit (A LITTLE BIT) in the hardener. I always mix the same amount of resin (500gr) at the same time and that's enough for 10cmx30cm slab made out of 20 layers of fabric.

Check THIS and THIS out.

very good looking job there 3wolves...i think i vote for orange on your OHfireman...i think that would look pretty hip...

How did you attach the handles to the SAK? Just epoxy? I am curious since I have never disasembled a SAK, seems like glued/pinned or something... not like a gadget you can take appart easily without damaging it.

Thats great work! I bet the SOSAK guys loved that!

That came out really nice. I definitely like Micarta instead of the plastic scales.

That is one great looking SAK. My vote is for blaze orange scales for the OH fireman.

Yep, just a 5 minute epoxy. You gotta be carefull not to get it around the blades or pivots.
