Sitting at a wilderness camp right now. Just got done teaching an edged tools class to 40 8-10th graders. This is the results of whittling their spoons. Most aren't done but they're getting it figured out. Teaching kids how to use knives, now that's 'Merica! 😀
Editted to add: I apparently missed getting my knife in the other picture so the second is added to address that mistake.
Several American traditions at work here. We have:
- Cultural appropriation
- Advanced particle metallurgy technology
- Obsession with privacy and property (fence)
- Unnecessary spending
- Large companion animals
- Really not wanting to do yard work
