How do you mod your Becker?

My 2 and 11......

Can you do etching like this with that radioshack stuff you heat up?

Yes that's exactly what was used... doesn't have to be heated up though... although it will help it work a little faster.

The trick is getting that detailed of a stencil. Cover the blade with painters tape and then use an x-acto knife to cut out what you want to etch... apply... let it sit... voila.

Awesome, thanks!

So far I haven't got around to any drastic mods to the handles. So it has just been strip and patina for me.

the 9 is starting to grow on me... the more I see pics of it the more I want to get one

As far as mods to the 2 I did the standard... strip, patina and micarta... sheath got a tek lok, accessory pouch and wire clamps for the fire steel

wish I had the luck of stripping and polishing a cam. vs kabar. still have deep grinds in certain spots on my knifes. plus it might be cheaper to find someone who could electro-plate. instead of someone who could polish our Becker's. because my most recent one (bk2) took two days to grind down by hand. smith's diamond duel sharpener yellow & orange plus sandpaper 500,1000,1200 wet/dry. and a day with green rouge and a dremmel to reflective polish it.

We need photos, and welcome to the forum.

Gotta strip my BK-11 and force a patina soon. Had it for a while and it's long over due.

They do look good with a little bit of a shine. But in hindsight I think I should have done less work on the 7. Pitina & blues are better suited to the hard work knife. And the high polishes work great for rust prevention on food prep knives. I've been thinking about refinishing that 7 with a special finish & rit dye on the handles.
