I’m a back flipper guy, but thumb stud is preferred on assisted flippers. Not a fan at all of thumb holes - my thumb just doesn’t work well with them. In fact I have a nice one in the exchange right now.
I don't have a manix 2, that is tempting but luckily for my wallet it doesn't ship to Alaska 😉. I used to open my police by pinching the hole with thumb and forefinger and flicking my wrist to swing the body open. Maybe not the fastest but it was comfortable and 100% effective.

Possible Thumb Stud Occasionally, If It's The Right Thumb Stud

Ehhh, look at you kids these days with your fancy thumb-buttons and Spidey-O’s 🤣.

The old pinch-and-flick method - worked fine back in the day, and still works fine with all these:

Nail nicks are the only method available on some knives like my SAKs & Buck 110. It is what it is. 🤷‍♂️
See above. Don’t need a thumb stud or anything else on a Buck 110 for sure.

I don't pretend to be an expert, but have been a knife lover for a half of a century. Recently laws changed in my state, and I can now carry what is termed a gravity knife.
I've bought a few flippers and found one that has been pretty much with me for the last 4 months. The combination of the flipper tab and button lock make the Pro-Tech Malibu a joy to use. I can use the tab or just push the button and flick it open. Very rarely has it failed to open, after the brief learning curve. The knife drops and closes like a dream every time. The button lock acts as the detent and is perfectly designed and implemented.
Oh, I still carry and use other OHO knives on occasion, and almost always have a slip-joint or fixed blade with me, but the Malibu is rarely left behind.

I want a zt 0620 with front flipper, back flipper and spyder hole. Since he already has Emerson wave and thump disc on him, he can transform into Voltron. (If there was such a knife, I would definitely buy it)

I've got a couple ZT620s but, if you're looking for a knife w/the greatest # of opening variations, I suggest you look at the Spyderco Tropen, which you can open w/a flipper, wave tab and with a compression lock/release flip. It's my favorite in terms of these features for SD use.

It also has a Spydie hole but it's only decorative and non-functional on the Tropen. 🤷‍♂️

A Very Cool knife, similarly the fox Emerson karambit in a knife with three openings. It has a back flipper, a functional hole and a wave feature but I want it all together 😂 😂 Jokes aside, 0620 is a great knife. It would be perfect if it had a flipper feature.

Both blades on my Leatherman Wave have elongated, nick-like, piercings. I can ofen open either with my thumb.

My largish Spyderco folder thumbs open with the blade hole most times, but is not a reliable panic opener for me. It would be grest with a spring assist.

I’m not a nail nick fan, perhaps because I’ve never had a good one.

I don’t have a preference between spydiehole, thumb studs, or light switch-type autos (like an Ultratech). I don’t like push button autos as much.

Flippers have fallen from my favor, even though ZT flippers are what got me into higher-end knives. I’ll still carry what I’ve got though. I’ve never played with a front flipper.

I don’t have a thumb disk knife, but the ones I’ve examined at dealers seem like they’d be on par with holes and studs.

I’m not into the wave.
