How do you prevent your traditional from sliding out?

Regardless of what I got on I have a bandana. Wearing jeans I let the knife ride down in the bandana, with lounge pants or shorts I put the bandana on top of it.

I made this up for a paranoid friend whos Wife bought him a Davidson for their 50th. Works great but you need a belt loop to loop it through.
Best regards

"When I wear certain pants, especially gym pants (that slippery nylon material), my traditionals try to leave the premises." Me too.

Somebody sticky this:

Case Large Black Suede Knife Pouch 9068

Having lost older slipjoints in the past to pocket holes and other calamities, I got a KSF pocket slip as soon as I saw them. They work very well for most situtations.

However, in November I was reclined at the dentist, wearing a new pair of cargo shorts with shallow, but loose, pockets, and the slip slipped out with my micarta Beer Scout Knife inside.

I didn't realize it until they called me when I was back at work. My work is too far away from the dentist to get there easily without taking a lot of time off, so I asked them to mail it to me and bill me. They said okay. Weeks went by, no knife. I called mid-December, and the receptionist said "Oh yeah, we can't mail it because it's a weapon."

Now I managed to not blurt out the expletives that jumped into my mind, I didn't ask her whether it was the cap lifter, the screwdriver, or the blade that lacked a point which scared her the most, and I did manage to keep most of the rage out of my voice when I told her "I got it in the mail in the first place.". I thought about asking her to read the side of the slip to me where it says "KnivesShipFree" and ask her if she'd like to change her answer, but I'm pretty sure she was just too lazy to mail the thing, forgot about it and then lied about it.

My dad uses the same dentist and was able to swing by to pick it up for me a few days later. He edc's an ebony BSK I gave him lasat summer, but I dont think he mentiioned it to the receptionist.

OK . . .
I'm seeing little pockets (slips)
zippers put on pockets
neck slings with pouches on them
stuff stuffed on top of stuff

put all this together, jump on it and what do you get ? ? ? ? ?

That's right gentlemen . . .
a man purse.

I mean where else are you going to keep your paycheck, sharpening tools: diamond paddles, diamond rod, file and mini steel, entrenching implement (spoon), business cards, credit cards & license, writing/drawing tools, 6inch ruler, flashlight, a pile of change, various pocket knives in various pockets . . . I even carried my fixed blade in there when I was needing to carry one o'them back in the day.

The man purse goes from car seat to backpack to commuter bike bag to work bench.
(actually I never carry it on my shoulder using the tuck away lace shown.
( I don't want one of you guys beating me up for wearing a man purse)

:p

PS : I grew up watching my Dad try to pile all this crap in his shirt pocket and then having it all spill out when he bent over . . . so . . . not such a bad alternative in my opinion.

I usually only have trouble with my knife slipping out of my pocket when I'm sitting in my lounge chair at home. Typically when not in my chair, my pants pockets are deep enough to not need any sort of carry system for my knives.

Having said that, and in turn provide no real information to further the thread, I leave this:

I used to carry a satchel around with all my pocket goodies in them. You name it, it was probably in there. The day I stopped was the day my sixteen year old daughter said, ".....and don't forget your purse" and then snickered the way a teenager does that only has that "pathetic and embarrassed" interpretation.
At that moment I looked at my wife and it hit me; she didn't even carry a purse most of the time, only using a small wallet.

I haven't carried a man purse sense.

I wear regular carrhart Jean most of the time so my knife doesn't fall out. The only time I have had this problem was with dress slack at wedding and such because of the small pockets. I like the idea of handkerchief to hold the knife will try that. In my front right I have ,zippo in watch pocket and my wallet. I keep my keys in my back pocket. And my knife or knifes go in my left pocket. I am ambidextrous so I can use either hand to do most tasks. I like the neck carry be good for when I am outside in the field at work as a electrican. I need a knife on the daily to strip wire that larger than my stripper can handle. And I often use them at lunch for a apple or two. So a handkerchief will be good for wiping the blade down. But overall there is a lot of good idea here

In hot weather I wear light weight nylon shorts. Very slippery material, but I've yet to loose a knife. I always shove a loosely wadded up bandana down on top of the knife. It keeps it there.

I very seldom hang upside down. If I do I take my knife out. I am 56 and have never had a knife fall out of my pocket. I don't go to the gym or wear skinny jeans.

There are 10 potential leather slip covers in every $5.00 pair of work gloves.:D
I think that's a great idea, Robin, and have considered it many times!:D
Has anyone ever tried this?
(I've even considered slitting a glove so I can put it on my belt to have a handy 5-compartment pouch hanging there.)

I Love the idea of a five pack GT:D I think it was Jack knife who first posted the glove finger thing.

Another consideration is matching a knife to your clothing. I have a GEC 83 for gym shorts and because of its size it tends to stay put better. Otherwise, like others have already mentioned I use a pocket slip. I like the GEC slips because they are 2 sided. One side is rough finished. The rough finish keeps it in place significantly more than the other brands I have.

I usually carry in a sheath on my belt, but for those I don't, I've never had a problem with my knives falling out of my pockets, even watch pockets, but I suppose that's because I'm usually either wearing tactical pants or jeans.
