how do you pronounce some of these knife names?

I know that it is a blade forum, but this one is personal - Leupold as in rifle scopes is Lew Pold. IT IS NOT Leo Pold. Call the company and ask if you don't believe me.
 
I've heard "Fall-niv (rhymes with "give") -en" and "Fall-knive (rhymes with five)-en" as well. Every time I pronounce it one way, someone corrects me and tells me to pronounce it the other way. Glad I could help add to the confusion.:D

P.S. Anyway, I own two of 'em.
 
Boy was I wrong on quite a few of these! Here's a kinda funny story...

The other day I was at a gun show and was carrying a Busse Steel Heart. All day long I heard "Hey, is that a Byooo-see knaf?" Uhhhg. I walked up to the last guy who asked and said "yeah, it's a Busse (like fussy) knife." He just went on saying "Byooo-see" and then he asked me why I was pronouncing it wrong. I said "well, because that's how he says it". He says "how who says it?", and I said "Jerry Busse. The guy who makes 'em" (well, he doesn't really make 'em all ;) )... I went on to explain a little more about the knives, and how great INFI really works, etc...

Everybody standing at the booth looking at the steel heart instantly started pronouncing it right. :)
 
how about extrema ratio? (ex-trEEma raysh-e oh) or extrEma raysh-e oh) or am i wrong all together. do i need an italian accent?;)
 
I bumped into a fellow knife Knut who referred to Bob Lum as Bob "Loom", so I started saying that way. One day, I actually spoke to him and he answered the phone as Bob LUM!

Same thing happened with Mike Janich. Someone on the phone corrected me and said his name was pronounced "Yahnick", so I started to repeat it that way. Later one, I understood it to be Mike "JANITCH".

It's always the dudes we preceive as the cool dudes who come across with the unusual pronounciations and then they are proved wrong!
 
Fällkniven (note the "ä" letter in the actual name) is pronounced fehl-knee-ven.

Extrema Ratio would be pronounced a bit like ex-treh-ma rah-tee-oh by an Italian.
 
Bob TER-ZOH-LA, or TER-ZOU-LA?

is pronounced: Fellqneevenn (If you can say Evil Knievel, you can also say Fällkniven :) )

Me: Talking to the owner while pointing to a Fallkniven S1 Forest Knife:

Me - "Yeah, hi. I'd like to take a look at that "Fahell - kquneev - eenhn" knife right there.

Owner - (Looking me over with suspicion and curiosity) "A what? Never heard of that brand. We don't carry it."

Funny thread. I just wanted to warn you not to trust too much belgian "fluent french speakers". Actuallty, concerning the Laguiole, some american guys were already right : it's "La-yull".:D

A French guy I once knew pronounced it with a little bit of "Z" thrown in... "La-zhull"
 
Poussin strange thing, most of my relatives are Walloons, you know the french speaking residents of Belgium and they all pronounce it like I said. Must be some regional thing maybe...

Close, but not quite. "ex-TRAY-ma RAHT-seeo" (caps indicate emphasis) comes closer.
