How do you rate Benchmade on a scale 1-10?

I give them a 7.5.

I love the axis lock and bali-songs.

The warranty isn't that great, and I've received plenty of off-centered BM blades through out my purchases, which shouldn't be acceptable when you're paying over $150 for a knife.

6/10.

I wish they would make more 2.5"-3" folders AND allow customization in countries other than the USA

for a production knife company I would give them a 9.5. I have yet to have any problems with any of the models I own. the fit and finish is great. the variety they offer is great and their customer service is topnotch.

If I had to rate their knives compared to EVERY other knife available today, I would give them about a 6 - 6.5. Even though I love them, they don't hold a candle to some of the customs and semicustoms out there.

+1, my sentiments exactly. 9-9.5

For a full production knife, I can't say there's better out there. Buuuuuuut.... compared to my Striders and Sebenza, they pale in comparison(as well they should, considering price difference.)

I currently own 3 Benchmades, have given 2 as gifts(1 to my dad, one to my gf), and all 5 have proven to be highly reliable, well made, edc folders. In terms of build quality, I would put them slightly above Spyderco, well above Kershaw(but on par with ZT).

As with everything, just my .02

I dont have a whole lot of knives, and I am not a collector. I buy what I think I might like and keep what I love. My three favorite production companies are ZT/Kershaw, Benchmade, and Spyderco. I have had Benchmades with off center blades, but never any other issues. With that said, Ive also had ZTs and Spydercos with the same issue. Ive never had any problems with any Benchmade, and their CS is amazing. Ive contacted them by phone and email, and everytime I talk to them they do whatever they can to take care of my needs. That combined with their great selection of high quality knives has made them one of my favorite production companies. I do wish that their prices were lower, but the knives I have are well worth the money I spent on them, and I plan on buying many more of their products in the future.

So with all this in mind, I give them a SOLID 8, which is as good as a production knife can get for me. I would like to add that I have never owned (or even seen in person) one of their Gold Class knives, Ive only owned their Blue Line of knives.

I give them a solid 8. Ive carried a stryker for my edc for the last ten years and have been very happy with it.

I'd give Benchmade a 9. Excellent customer service. Excellent knives and designs. The Axis lock is still my favorite. Benchmade might try more variety of the better steels, but they have run knives with M4 and M390. I'd also like to see more flat grinds and thin, high-performance blades, such as the Onslaught.

The Rukus and Skirmish were beautiful designs. The AFCK and 710 are true classics. And the Grip is one of the best quality budget EDCs. M2 is still an incredible steel for EDC.

Great company.

The Rukus, Skirmish, and AFCK were all 10's!

The Stryker, 710, Rift, Contego and Adamas are all 9's

So, overall I'd give them a 9.5

Solid six in my book. I've owned multiple BM models, but I've sold them off to buy Spyderco's instead and now I only have one. Which will be sold soon for a Zero Tolerance. :D

The Rukus, Skirmish, and AFCK were all 10's!

I wish still made these models. I never had a chance to get any when they were in production. Otherwise, I'd probably rate BM higher.

I only have a couple of their knives, including the Griptillian and Adamas. I'd give them a solid 7.

BM is an oddity to me. I only like their mini-grips, 707's and 710s. If I Use that for a rating then I'd say a solid 8. I just don't care for any other models at the moment. I've never had a BM with a single problem.

Some time ago, I bought a well-used M2 AFCK on the exchange. When it came, it was quickly apparent that the liner lock was mobile and faulty. It wasn't difficult to make the lock fail. I just sent the knife to Benchmade, and the company fixed the lock for free. They even gave me a new clip and sharpened the blade. There are a small number of other companies -- Spyderco, ZT and CRK come to mine -- where I'd expect that kind of service, but very few.

I only have 1, a full size grip. I'm not "wowed" by it like I am with other knives, but its a solid utility knife. I use it at work and it has held up pretty well so far...I give them a 6.5/10 for the axis lock, their 154cm and they replace blades.

i would have to go with 6 as well. for me a 1 would be Mtech, smith and wesson, china and pakistan made brand nameless knves, etc. and a 10 would be custom quality along the lines of hoback, wieland, hinderer, elishewitz, thomas, demko, Etc.

benchmades quality has declined recently. not only that but they dont offer as a broad a selection as they used to. the're gold class knives are ok, but for the price they are insanely overvalued. its worth mentioning that if you break a screw or break the pocketclip they have been known to replace them for free.

Kind of hard to rate it. I sort of have/had a 710 and had it for about 6 months, using it as a work knife. One of the omega springs broke and I'm still waiting to get it back from them for service.

I give them an 8. I am definitely a repeat buyer.

Your name southern knives has me thinking about a question I've always had; Why did Southern grind choose 1428cn as a blade steel for a $165+ knife?

7/10
(edit 6.5/10
Reason: So many of their knives are axis lock now, I don't like springs or any other parts prone to failure/needing replacement in my knives.)

The 3 giants of the American knife kingdom.
I like Benchmade designs but I think Kershaw make better knives. Spyderco wins title of best knife company in general for many reasons.
None of the above make my knife of choice though.
