I don't think this is true. I live in Oregon as well and i'm always surprised by how dry the air is. go to new england during the summer and come back to oregon, it makes the east coast feel positively muggy. unless you store your knives outside, i wouldn't worry about the weather. maybe i should actually look up the humidity levels relative to the other states before i post this but oh, who cares. everyones an expert on the internets.
oh, and some of you have amazing knife collections. i really don't understand how you can afford it but damm i'm jealous.
I have 2 Gun Safes that I split up my Knives and Guns keep in there as then thay are 'safe' ! You know your friends won't break in and steal from you but they might bring somebody in who has friends that are all not that trustworthy and "Poof" no knives and you sit and say who -- what -- when and if I ever find out who did this I will (whatever).! I had my Guns in glass show cases when I was 30 or so and somebody (they never found out who) and I lost 16 of my Guns - 12 boxes of 22 Jet Ammo and my Grand-Fathers 'old Case Sheath knife' and a Model S&W 60 that was under my Pillow that only a few knew was there.! I did get back a Browning Single Shot 22-250 and a S&W Model 29 and my Insurance Company showed me where it said on paper that I had to have two Locks on every Cabinet.! Insurance paid $0 --- Tax time I got $900 for my Guns.! I learned the hard way.!* Now my Guns & Knives stay in 2 = $2,300 Safes and one of the best investments I ever made. Bolted on 2 Sides and the bottom with A-Bolt Steel and if they can get in there they can have them.!!*
