How do you store your traditional knives

Since the big pruning it does not take much to hold what is left, but I am gradually adding to them, so it begins again.;)

I just picked up this homemade machinist chest. Well made. I have been looking for such a thing to display my pocket knives. My choices have been very expensive Gerstner chests or a new Harbor Freight machinist chest that just doesn't have the vibe that I want. This box was advertised for $45 on Craigslist and I got it for $40. For my purposes it is perfect.

Nice score! That looks perfect

I currently have my knives in these six Plano boxes, and have been generously granted the use of two shelves in this cupboard at the bottom of a built-in bookcase!

Here are the boxes laid out on the chest freezer in the basement laundry room where I pick out the knives I'll carry each week.

I'm moving the majority of my accumulation into this new oak cabinet we ordered. There's still a large drawer with the overflow. It's a work in progress.
I needed something that keeps the sharp things hidden from my 16 month old grandson. Man he's fast!

Beautiful cabinet! Those toddlers are like a magnet for trouble too eh? : )

Recently picked up, a Plano tackle box. It’s got two trays. The top tray is divided up into rectangles that hold 2-3 traditionals in each of 5 spaces and a larger square space on the end, also a longer rectangle across the length of it. Second tray has 7 equal rectangles that are longer so knives like my Madison can fit. Under all that is a large open toolbox like space for my modern folders. The top of the lid also has 2 completely separate compartments that can hold a few knives in each. Worked out perfectly for my celluloid fightn rooster that I want to keep away from the others just in case of gassing.

I limit myself to what fits in this box, +1 for the pocket. I have found that it helps me to only keep the ones I truly use and love.

Most of mine stay out on my dresser where I can ogle them and contemplate what to put into the pocket that day. I personally don't want to get to the point where I have so many they have to be stashed away somewhere.

I am admittedly an accumulator, not a collector: if I were the latter I would certainly still want a way to display the collection, just in a more protected, organized and well-lit way.

I find these art supply storage boxes to be perfect. They look nice and are very inexpensive. You could even dress them up with paint, stain, or decorations if you like.
Leslie, that magnifying glass is pretty cool. Is it horn?

Just finished and filled a wall display made of cigar boxes
Dirk, it appears that you made your internal shelving out of the box lids. How did you mount them so that they support the weight of the knives?

Like Bugdoc I am more accumulator than technical collector but I keep it all in a plastic toolbox to fixed blades pretty much get stacked in one corner and all the folders get laid out in in a large tin from a cheap special edition knife set and the really small pen and pocketknives end up in a cardboard jewelry/Necklace box
