How do you store your traditionals?

I store my knife collection in a large Craftsman tool chest. The top and middle chests have several drawers that are perfect for knives and they lock. I use the premium non slip pads and haven't had any issues with them for the past 3 years. I tried felt, but the knives slide around on it.

As for keeping the knives from corroding, I liberally apply mineral oil with a toothbrush to the blades and springs. I've heard some say that bone and wood shouldn't have mineral oil on them but I've been doing it for a few years now and haven't noticed any adverse reactions. All my knives still look like they did when I pulled them out of their tubes. Also, in regards to wood darkening, I haven't noticed that either, but they are in total darkness the vast majority of the time.

Renaissance Wax works and I tried it, but my problem is that I like to periodically pull them out and open/close/admire them. A swipe of the toothbrush is a lot faster than re applying ren wax.

I made a knife roll.

^^ Nice job on the roll. Looks like it's holding some lookers as well :)

I have a wooden tool chest (Gerstner knockoff) for many of my knives. Most of my slipjoints are stored in Sack-Ups knife rolls.

Am I the only one that uses Sack-Ups? They work soooooooo well. My whole family uses them.

I have a couple on my computer desk. A few in my gun safe. Several on a container next to the gun safe. Some on my dresser. Quite a few in rows on the book shelf. And lastly some in an old ALICE pack under my bed. And at least 1 in my pocket. :D

I use the individual Sack-Ups. Not the roll. Cigar boxes do the trick for me.

For those of you that use cigar boxes, is that only for ones with no box or tube?

+1 I use individual Saks Up (after drenching the silly cone in excess) for those in 1095. The others don't need. The Sodbusters are in the kitchen, Opinels in the kitchen / dining room and closets (that's where I keep my tools. SAKs in my bag / in the BMW tool roll; The others usually on me or not far from my eyes. Where's the pleasure if I do have to lock them? :D
+1 for cigar boxes, when I am away. I keep also a few watches in other cigar boxes. And pictures. And spare fuses, and a lot of things in fact. Cigar boxes are essential!

I keep the boxes... in a cardboard box. Only because I'm conservative, I do not intend to sell my knives. But one never knows...

Dean, I keep the tubes, but the knives are not kept in them. Some just go into the cigar boxes, and some in the Sack-Ups and then in the cigar boxes.

All my original boxes, sleeves, paperwork, etc for the knives are stored separately away from my knives. I have one box with self protection knives on my dresser, the rest are together in cigar boxes in my fun room. The boxes were originally rcd decorated as presents for me, thus the tradition of having them cloth lined. Wood and paper boxes can leave surface scratches on nickel silver so I have continued with it even though I don't get them as presents anymore.

For knives that are in current rotation, I just use a little set of plastic drawers (I think they're meant for office supplies and whatnot) that I got at Target. I keep meaning to get something nicer, but what I have works so...

For the knives that I'm not currently rotating into carry for whatever reason, I have a knife roll that lives under the bed. Fixed blades are in a tuperware container under the bed as well.

If it's going to be part of a collection (read safe queen), then I lightly rub some mineral oil on the knife to include the scales (if not micarta or other porous paper/canvas material, return to factory box and store in the safe. All users and carriers get a bit of mineral oil on the joints as needed.

I have a couple of SAK's that are over 30 years old that I never did anything for, and they are rust free and look almost new in spite of all the abuse and neglect while in the military.

For any new knife that comes to me in a package, I throw away the packaging immediately. This saves on storage space in the cigar box, and since I'm not collecting with an eye to resale, the packaging is really just trash, so out it goes!

This is what I use as well. I bought two tiny three-drawer units and lined them with self-stick felt. Each drawer comfortably holds four knives with no bumping. My EDC stuff sits on top of the drawers.

My collection is under 20 knives, all stainless, and they all see or have seen pocket time. I wipe the blades after use (paper towel or shirt), don't put anything on them in storage, and they've all done just fine.

I'd like a classier solution that makes my whole collection as easy to access as my cheapo solution, but this has worked well enough for the past few months.
