How do you think the new Gso6 will compare to the 5.1?

He said the other HT he was working on was for his field knife i believe, which is a smaller blade. If i remember he said it was so he could get it a little harder (gives up a bit of toughness). I'd figure Survive will be using the same HT Nathan is using on the chopper for the whole GSO 3V line. Speculation of course, i haven't heard anything official

I'm beginning to think that Ellie wasn't supposed to let the cat out of the bag because there hasn't been any comment from her recently on the heat treat topic.
My two cents is that Nathan is (gasp) a Machinist and therefore is more interested in the ability to cut metal with his knives than other folks might be.
The old concept of cutting your way out of an airplane with your survival knife comes to mind.
For those that don't try to baton your knife through nails it might not be apparent that there is any difference between the two heat treatments.
Guy's knives have always held up pretty well in the field, but of course Guy is always trying to improve his product so he'd want to jump on any improvements.
I very much look forward to these knives getting into the field and being extensively evaluated.

That's what I did, I ordered a 6 and sat back to relax...

Then ordered a 3.5, a 4.7 and a 12. Then bought and sold 2 old spec 5s and a now have another old spec 6. Just sitting back and relaxing.

Lol. I think I relax the same way you do. Well, maybe not as proficiently, but with the same restful results :)

Haha! Nope, I still stand by the statement that we are planning to start with the new heat treat on the GSO-4.1 run. We are planning on following runs being done to the same heat treat. I'm just staying quiet until they are at heat treat and actually getting done.

I am trying to get better at avoiding situations like:
Me- "We don't have guaranteed delivery dates for preorders, but with our current schedule that knife should ship out around March. Keep an eye on the Production Schedule page."
Customer a couple months later- "When in March is my knife going to ship?"

Or

Me- "Hats are hard"
Customers- "HATS Tomorrow!!!"

:D

This is my 1st post, unfortunately I have no 5.1 to compare to, however I did submit my order today for a GSO 6 in the CPM-20CV!!! I am super excited to get my knife and start getting out there and putting it to work!! still hoping to get lucky with a 5.1 on a Monday :)

Welcome MadMax2015. You've stumbled onto a great forum. I've been hanging out here since January and haven't left. Great bunch of knowledgeable folks/fans of the S!K line and company.

Great Choice MM2015, Once we get closer to production I have decided to also preorder a 6. I love my 5.1 and dont see myself selling it when the 6 comes, but I like the idea of being able to mix it up! And welcome to this little corner of BF!
