How do you wear a belt knife ?

I carry small fixed blades mostly. But often on pack trips I carry a large camp knife or hunter. My preferred method of carry then is small of the back (SOB).

It works great, comfortable and is out of the way. Also out of the way if ya carry a pistol. Particularly handy if you're leading some pack horses or mules. Then your lead rope is not getting tangled all the time.

I like the look of that sheath. Knife looks secure and out of the way. How is it re sheathing?

That's definitely a nice piece of leather there 👍

Thanks. Not too hard I've learned to kind of lead with a finger.

I tend to use the sheath that comes with the knife. Part of the reason I don't care for Mora knives. Generally prefer rigid belt sheath on small knives and a dangler type affair on larger fixed blades. I do like horizontal carry on smaller knives. I don't like to carry a larger knife and have it poke me when I'm trying to sit on a car seat. That is where dangler sheaths are quite useful.

When I a carrying a belt knife, I very much prefer the sheath to attached to my belt, whether it is leather or kydex.

I'm a fixed blade guy almost always. 99% of the time its horizontal crossdraw. Such as here horseback:

Very occasionally I don't wear a belt and then its this way:

Or this:

But almost always it horizontal crossdraw. Works for the wife too:

That front cross draw carry has always been the best way to go for me as well. =)

I've tried most sheath carrying options out there. Dangler was the best for me.
High ride sheaths are utterly obnoxious. Can't use a backpack belt and always dug into my side or elbow.
Medium ride are more comfortable, but still frequently get in the way of backpack belts and often covered by outer clothing
Low ride are out of the way and easy to access with clothing.
Tight/dangling sheath for low riding is situation for me. Your typical belt knife size is awesome in a dangler. Swing doesn't bother me and the knife is always vertical. That changes with large choppers. On a dangler sheath, they're constantly hitting the top of my knee. I feel it after a couple hours of romping and stomping. I prefer them to ride closer.

I tried horizontal carry for a while, I never felt comfortable with it. Sheathing the knife, I always felt like I was running the risk of stabbing myself. Personally, you run a higher risk of the knife falling out if there wasn't tight retention.
I can understand the utility of a angled knife for cross draw (my right side of the pants are always sagging), but most options are high-riding.

I prefer leather sheaths, mostly for aesthetics. Kydex/Plastic sheaths have always felt cheap and tacky to me, though I used a ESEE-made kydex sheath and it was awesome.

Well the only real "belt" knife I have that I always wear out is my Mora companion. But I intentionally removed the belt clip and just carry it in the front right pocket of my jeans. Typically the only time the sheath comes out of the pocket is just to be put into another pair of pants. Never have had it fall out and it doesn't want to get caught up on things like twigs and Bush like it does on a belt.

(P.S. this is my first post so don't rag on me too hard :) )

I prefer to EDC fixed blades when I can. I have different sizes for all different options, and I make multi-carry sheaths that go from dangler to high belt and cross draw/scout. Most often I carry horizontal on the front right in a low profile leather sheath. This doesn't even hang out much when wearing at shirt, and is very comfortable. I also make cross draw sheaths with good balance and a simple clip for when I'm wearing sweatpants around the house. It lets me carry a lighter fixed blade without it tugging my sweatpants down.
