How does Benchmade rate??

I love my Benchmade folder, one of the few folders that I own. Great choice!

I personally don't like Benchmade (their designs don't appeal to me) but they do make quality knives. Good purchase!

benchmade is quality. we all have our favorites (mine for folders is Lone Wolf), but there is no denying that benchmade is quality (I own 8).

People saying spyderco or other brands are not recommending bad brands, but you know your boyfriend the best and probably can predict his taste better than others.

You did not get a lower quality knife at all.

Benchmade is an excellent manufacturer of knives, who also has excellent customer service. You may feel confident that you bought a quality knife that will last a lifetime.

I got him the BM Mini Reflex the # on it is 2550. It has a black blade and handle. Everyone on here is so great, I actually found the same one online for $160 so that doesn't make me very happy but I don't have time for it to be shipped and it is already purchased so I will probably just stick with the one I already got him. Unless of course I can find something locally that might be better. I was worried Cabela's was over charging for it.

Krys.... you did good! He will love it... :)

I also sent you a "Visitor Message" with the links of two excellent places to deal with when you make your next purchase. They are both top notch and reputable places to deal with.

Welcome to Blade Forums... ;)

And the good thing is that you didn't even overpay that much. When I bought my first Benchmade (907) I overpaid horribly 'cause I didn't know any better.

You did great on buying him a Benchmade however I do think that you should reconsider the whole relationship thing. I think I'd appreciate the knife more!! Haha Jk good job, he's a lucky man.

You did good. Benchmade is a quality manufacturer. You can go have a look at their website: www.benchmade.com and read about their history and such. Les De Asis (founder and owner) can be heard if you click on the link here http://www.woodsmonkey.com/index.ph...nterview&catid=73:inteviewsprofiles&Itemid=85

or you can download it.

The $200 price range is a great price range and you get really top quality from Benchmade, Spyderco and Kershaw. Much better quality IMO then any Gerber at the moment.

Don't worry about it. :-) I routinely pay the list price, rather than shopping around for days to get the best deal. Time is money too! (Not that there is anything wrong with bargain hunting!)

If the product is good, I consider it money well spend.

Only way to go better(a question of personal opinion and intended use really) is with a Chris Reeve Sebenza or a custom made knife.

I loved my mini reflex, and think I may pick up another one someday. I found a place that has some OD green handles W/black blade.

What a great Benchmade! If he's interested in knives at all he'll love it--and if he's not all that interested now, he will be after using the Mini Reflex.

$200 is a fair price for a Benchmade auto. Many online retailers advertising much lower prices often don't stock the item and since Benchmade changed their pricing practices to level the playing field for "Brick and mortor" stores, those low prices are often invalid as well.

I've paid around $200 for all my Benchmade autos and never regretted it for a second. Benchmade makes some of the best side opening autos around--you'll pay significantly more for anything better, and at this price point better becomes highly personal and subjective.

Large retailers such as Cabela's or Bass Pro Shops are often at the higher end of retail price. If you purchase Benchmades in the future, check their site to locate local dealers--they often have better prices and a better selection than larger retailers.

Welcome to the site, please feel free to ask any questions you may have in the future--this site is a great resource for information.

Best,
heekma

Three of my coworkers have automatic benchmade knives. They are very nice. One of the three let the blade accumulate rust, be it still works. Your BF is a lucky guy, my wife hates knives and video games.

I let my wife read this thread. I still don't think that I'm going to be getting a Benchmade auto from her any time soon. LOL.
