How does Duncan McCloud hide his sword?

Great thread! Favorite comment so far is Dr Lathe's ref to how Xena "is much more realistic"...!!! Close second is tallwingedgoat's suggestion that it's an OTF.

(Maybe his sword is inflatable?)

Whatever the case, it's sort of like those hundreds of rounds lit off between reloadings in John Woo films...

My fiancee and I have got it figured out. It's a kydex sheath sewn into the coat so it doesn't flap around, but it's got an open front and the sword "breaks" out the side like Jim March's Outsider. The Hollywood metal sword scrape sound is created by the stainless collar around the throat and the metal reinforcement of the tip and the last 3 inches. Let's see--carry, no draw, scraping sound--that's as close as I can get.
My other theory is that the blade is telescoping.
As for Xena, I watched it a long time ago and again recently and noticed a big change in direction--IOW, unless you look like Gabrielle, forget it.
