How does the GEC #15 Barlow compare to the Boys knife?

The #15 is the #15. Same size, same shape of handle. The variations are in number of blades, blade types, choices of handle materials, bolster styles, and blade etches. Pick the style you like best out of the different options. They will generally feel the same, though the Barlow's larger bolsters will tend to make the knife a little heavier since the bolsters are all steel, but I don't know if you'd notice the difference.

Nice overall description Johh.

They are tough little knives and can be put to most any task you'd want to do.

I've passed my Boy's Knife with clip and pen blade along and my TC Barlow with the same blade configuration as well but when I had them, I worked the heck out of them with no worse for wear.

A couple of these, I believe:

"No worse for wear" is an understatement-- they're beautiful.

Or, as you've said:

All three knives shown above have been spiffied up and are ready to go to the dance. They are users (a concept not held by some here) but they are just as nice looking as any other knives shown here in Blade Forums. Sure they're marked up a bit but that's what makes them unique among the sea of knives shown in this subforum.

I'm all for 'putting a knife up' betimes, and fully support each of us enjoying our knives however we choose, but there's something special about to me about the evidence of wear on quality knives that have been used for their intended purpose. More directly, I become more bonded to my own knives when I use them regularly.

Ed, I love seeing how well these knives hold up to your hard work-- it makes them all the more special, and places their value in a new light.

All great knives!

I Only have a single spear Charlow.

I would not hesitate to buy any of them that appealed to my eye. The boys knife is simply classic!

Well said, Sarah! :thumbup::thumbup:
In fact, I often feel at least a little bit guilty that I don't have more work for my knives to do. My lifestyle really doesn't include all that many situations where a knife is necessary.

Thanks Sarah. Ya know, all three of those knive kinda go together now - like a set. Keep a close eye on yer mailbox in the next couple of weeks.

I picked up an electricians knife and a huckleberry boys knife, both on the 15 frame. I love them, they came absolutely perfect IMO, walk, talk, perfect centering, weight, and rock solid lock up. Here are some pics. I especially like the electricians knife with the long pull as it seems to have more metal in the build and cool bolsters with a lock for the saw
