How have your tastes changed?

From lockers to slip joints.

I also switched from lockers especially with flippers to slipjoints mostly gec but there are others I like as long as they are carbon steel especially 1095.

I used to carry a 3-4 inch folder everyday, but now I find that a slipjoint will perform any task i need to accomplish on a daily basis. When I'm out hiking, fishing, hunting or the like I still carry a stout folder or fixed blade. But for normal, everyday tasks like opening a package, cutting cardboard, etc. a nice thin blade cuts like a laser.

I used to only carry a single, cheaper folder.

now i carry 2 folders and a fixed blade.

my tastes really haven't changed, but my willingness to pay for what I WANT has.......

what i look for in a knife has always been the same.

good steel, tough as nails, and form following function. i don't care as much about looks as I do performance and durability and cost. I'd rather buy an ugly knife that is cheaper which I will use the snot out of than a $600 show piece that will lose its value if i scratch it. i scratch them all. hell, i take every new knife and use/carry it for a week just to make sure I don't buy drawer queens

if i cant beat on it when i need to, i don't want it being in my pocket. knives are tools to me....i use them for what they are for, but i refuse to baby them.....at the end of the day, they are still just a tool
