How I display my first HI (photo links included)...

Even before my first HI knife was delivered to me, I had already started preparing a new display case that would house it up on my wall. I did all I could with the display without actually having the knife in hand, but needed the knife for the fitting and final touches. Now with the knife
in hand, I was able to complete it.
On this project I took a major shortcut, and that was to purchase a ready made white display box from a local “Mega Marshalls”. It only needed a bit of customizing to make it fit my needs. I just added some different hanging hardware, added some “Greek Key” trim, made/stained & installed some wood resting places for the items being placed inside, and cut down/drilled/filed & installed the little plaque that says “HIMALAYAN IMPORTS”. My total cost, including the basic “Mega Marshalls” display case,........ $29 :)

These two photos show my new HI’s final resting place:

Very nicely done Jimmy. Where did you get the little plaque?

Thanks again, guys :)

The plaque?.............. well, here is my method (the improvised way) ;)

I go to the local Walmart where they have this engraving machine up front. The machine is like a vending machine, except instead of selling candy or soda, it engraves dog tags, luggage tags, etc.

I usually just write two lines in duplicate on their luggage tag (the extra line just in case I destroy one line in the process of cutting the plaque down). Cost is $5 (which I did include in my display's final cost). Once I have it home, I cut down the portion I need, file and bevel the edges. I then drill the plaque (wherever there is room to do so) and install :)

The Helmet is made by Medio Evo of Italy.

It needs a warning label on the front.

Something like

"BREAK GLASS IN CASE OF ZOMBIE"

or

"TOUCHA MY CASE, I BREAKA YOU FACE"

or

"WICKED SHARP. YOU MUST BE 18 TO HANDLE."

bc

LOL! :)

I basically only allow people in my home that have been brought up with enough manners to know that when you enter someone's home you should "look, but not touch" ;)

Never could stand when people see things like photos on your wall, and then the first thing they'll do is to start touching the frame's glass while pointing at the photos and asking.... "is that you?" or "who's this?" :(

Thank you so much!

That's my wife, son, and I. My wife was also about 2 months pregnant with our daughter at the time that photo was taken, so even though she is not seen in the photo, she is in it (so it really is a "complete" family portrait) ;)
Our home consists of only us four (me, the wife, and our two kids). The funny thing is that the photo was taken about 17-18 years ago, and our daughter and son are now a Jr. and Sr. in High School. How time flies when your having fun :)

Thank you again for your comments :)

Beautiful display, JimmyJimenez.
You must really like this khukuri if you chose to display it below your family's picture.

I wonder, where would be displayed for example a HI 18" Salyan or Katunje with some really purty wood (chandan, neem or sisau).
Welcome to the ward of the HIKV infected people.;) :D

A nice display, I'll have to keep that in mind.

I did notice that there are about 3-4 EMPTY slots in that gun case tho.
You really ought to do something about that.:D

Very well done art.

Need to make something like that for my UB salyan and LY special- they're never gonna get used, and belong together.

That was my last gun cabinet purchase, when I ran out of space in the other gun cabinets, this was my solution ;)

Though I do like this HI knife, the selection of where to place it was more about where the display case would look right to me :)

i've got to warn you that the cylon head on your gun cabinet is still working, i can see its eye glowing. probably calling the main cylon mother ship. i'd fill the rest of that cabinet with armour piercing ammo & unlock the the kukh case just to be prepared....

Thanks for the tip about Walmart engraving, Jimmy. Good stuff.

The display and room are elegant, and you must be very happy with your family.

Munk,

I've been using that machine there for over two years now, I don't know what I'd do if they took it away ;)

The usual engraving places around here, like the trophy shops, make you wait some time after placing your order, and are usually nowhere as cheap.
With the machine it's instant gratification, and cheap...........gotta love it ;)

And yes Sir, I am very proud of my bunch,........... thank you very much :)

Being proud of the bunch is the right stuff. I've got three here that keep me anchored to this world. (kids- Not Khuks, folks!)
