Being proud of the bunch is the right stuff. I've got three here that keep me anchored to this world. (kids- Not Khuks, folks!)

Whew, thanks for clearing that up Munk.:D Jimmy the more I look at that display the more I like it. You had it all done before the knife arrived? Thats cool.

I like hearing about peoples kids and seeing their homes. Really fleshes them out.

Thanks guy, as Munk said, children help keep me well grounded as well.

They're good kids too, they make me so proud when every marking period I see both their names on their schools High Honor Roll :)

As for the display being all done before the knife arrived,...... yes and no.

As I had said, the basic white display case was purchased ready made, but these are the things I did to it before the knife arrived:

I placed the Greek Key trim in it.

I made the wood stand, stained it, and installed the plaque on it.

I fabricated and stained the wooden pieces that would secure the scabbard and two accessory blades.

But, I had to wait until the knife arrived to actually install those wood sections to the display case (though the manufacturing part of it was already over).

I was going by the approx length that was listed on the DOTD special for this knife, and was pretty surprized when it was actually a bit bigger. Oops, I only have about 1/8" clearance from the tip of the blade to the side of the box, and 1/8" from the pommel to the other side of the box. If the knife would have been just another 1/4" or bigger, I would have needed to rethink the installment (would have had to scrap my already made knife base). The knife would have then been mounted on an Angle. Lucky thing though, it all worked out ;)

One little thing to add.....Jimmy maybe you shall change the color of the display box ? Dun match your interior too well. :)

Hey, don't tell me such things, I tend to take them too much to heart, and may cause me to repaint it! :)

Just humor me and tell me that it matches perfectly ;)

See, you messed me all up!

I just took a look at the photo, and it sure does look stark white in those photos!

But then I took a look on the wall, and it does not stick out like that at all. It blends in okay. Then I remembered that when I photographed it, I used a flash. The bright flash really brings out the whitness in the photo.
But, looking at it here in person, the white is much more toned down using our home lighting.

See what you caused.................

LOL! ;)

Ooops...sorry...

White is good...white toned down with home lighting but sticks out in flash lighting is good..... :o

knowing the approx. size of that shotgun shell box, y'all appear to be about three foot tall, thought you wuz taller.....

Three feet tall!
Oh, no way, I'm more like, I mean,...... it's more like just a tad bit over 2 feet tall ;)

With base included, 26 1/2 inches to be exact :)

The helmet would be nice and life saving.....for when my wifey is around.....still didn't know that I have the Malla........ :o

Nice display Jimmy, and great family photo. I always appreciate knowing a little more about other khuk klub members. Makes things a bit more personal and connected. Thanks for sharing.

One of the things I liked about my recent HI WWII custom display, is the placement of the plaque on the wood knife display stand.

As I had mentioned earlier in this thread, the plaque was cut down from a luggage tag that I had made up on a vending machine at the local Walmart.
I usually write 2 or 3 lines on these luggage tags, then cut them down, file/bevel the edges, and then drill small holes to allow me to install via screws or nails. Well, when I did this one at Walmart, I wrote three lines on it ("Himalayan Imports" in duplicate, and one line reading "Khukuri House").

Since the plaque looked nice installed on the base holding the HI knife, it gave me reason to do the same thing to my previously made KH display case.

The only thing is, there are two KH knives in this particular display case, and that would mean that only one of the knives would have a plaque installed on it's base. The other knife in the display would have it's base remain plain.

"Hmmmm! Wait a minute", I said to myself. I remembered that Yangdu Martino had sent along a brass lapel/hat pin of two crossed khukuri knives with my HI knife order. I had this pin sitting on my dresser and had no idea what I was going to do with it (not a pin wearing sort of a guy). Here was the opportunity to put this pin to some use. Oh my, does the creativity ever end!........ LOL! ;)

Anyhow, here is how it all turned out:

Nice Jimmy, nice....... :)

Thank you, Sir.

I would have shown the suroundings of where that display case is located, but I feared you telling me again about my lack of color matching..... LOL! ;)

Thanks again for the nice comment :)

Jimmy, great display.
I normaly do not like ornamental picture frames, but yours are perfectly done and placed.

The spiral on the frame members suggests movement and activity- and just the right amount, too, for the khukuris to look exciting.

LOL!!!!!!!! :)

I'll tell you why I'm laughing, Munk.
Well, it's best if I first describe how I scientifically chose that particular frame..........

I went to the local "A.J. Wright" store (a sibling of "Marshalls/T.J. Maxx) to look for a frame that I could use to be the front of a display box for these two khukuri knives.
I looked around and noticed a few framed prints with red clearance stickers on them. One was just about a perfect size for my project. It housed one of the ugliest prints I'd ever seen (probably why it was on clearance), but the frame looked good enough for me and my project, and only cost me............... $5 ;)

Took it home, removed the backing and the print. I then went on to hot glue gun the glass to the frame, and "bingo"........... had myself a display box lid! LOL! ;)

I built the rest from scratch using materials purchased from "Home Depot" and a local craft store ;)

Anyhow, now you can see why I chose that particular frame............. because it only cost me $5.......... ;) LOL! :)

But I do like the way you feel the design goes well with the knives ;)

Thanks for your comments :)
