How I ended up with a safe queen

I bought a Kevin John PT clone earlier this year as finding a Strider PT was near impossible. I paid $100 and found it to be a pretty nice knife. Still, I wanted the Strider, so when Blade HQ finally listed them I jumped. A week into EDC it struck me as odd that the clone was going to become a safe queen. So I decided to put the Strider in the safe and restored the KJ to my EDC rotation. Am I crazy? It just seems stupid to "save" the clone.

Agreed. The KJ served its purpose. Why carry the counterfeit when you own the real thing?

Give the clone away to a friend or something. I don't think you'd be able to sell it; I know not many here would want to buy it.
And, how does the clone compare with the real thing?

Awesome!
KJ clones and Strider knives all in one thread!
I'm just gonna kick back and watch this train wreck.

You'd be surprised at how closely they compare in appearance and feel. Of course the Sandvik blade is inferior to S35VN, but it held a pretty good edge for me. I think I will give it to my son. He'll like it a lot. I'll feel like its getting some real use, rather than $100 down the drain. And the Strider can come back out and into the EDC pool.

This is the best idea yet. :) welcome to bladeforums by the way. enjoy your strider and enjoy your boy enjoying his new knife from his dad.

That was pretty funny. LOL Of course I was referring to the amount that was spent. Whether either is/was worth it, I'll never know. :)

I've never understood safe queens. Personally, I don't keep a knife if I'm not going to use it. Give the clone away and use the Strider.

Nah, sell the strider and keep the clone. They are both made by scam artists, you might as well keep the one that isn't absurdly overpriced.

Better yet, sell them both and get a knife that is made by someone with an ounce of integrity.
