How impressed I am with the Vallotton Sub-Hilt

I have medium hands and the Lil' Subhilt is more comfortable for me. The handle is thinner.

I'd like to check out the Lil' Sub-Hilt too. I prefer larger knives most of the time. But once in a while I'd like a smaller knife depending on what I'm doing and wearing.

I bought a D/A directly from Butch. I've had a LOT of pretty cool knives, and that one blew my friends away the most. I do miss that one.

One thing I do wish were different: I wish they didn't have all the extra clip holes - right side tip up only and it would be perfect.

Yessir! Butch had them all in his shop for the conversion from what I recall. Easiest way to tell is the number on the blade and the extra hardware on the bottom.

Machine turned parts on the D/A ...

I have a lil' sub hilt arriving today, was able to handle one at a brick and mortar shop and knew I had to track one down. Very neat knife, but I'd be interested in asking if anyone knows what the design is based off of? European auto knife design?

From what I've read , Butch Vallotton is a long time fan of Italian style folders. Thus the inspiration for the Sub-Hilt.

Received my lil' vallotton today. Feels great in hand, the polished G10 somehow looks much more premium than G10 has any right to. Seamless feel with the bolsters, satisfying "thwack" when the liner lock engages. Can't ask for much more in a production knife, and if you get the chance to pick it up in the secondary market or otherwise, it's worth a look.

I am heading to the States in a month and will be ordering a Lil Subhilt to pick up when I’m there. I haven’t had a chance to handle the smaller version but I prefer the dimensions and the aesthetics. Hope I like the feel. How is it in hand Sisusari? Comfortable in a full 4 finger grip?

Yes , that polished G10 really makes the knife look and feel like it's on another level. Smooth , solid and beautiful.

I have small hands to preface, but it fits very comfortably in a four finger grip, closed length of right around 4.5 inches.

Thanks for the info Sisusari. Do you by chance own a Delica? I would love to see someone post side by side shots of the Lil Sub Hilt and the Delica. Ideally one with the grips facing each other so you can see how the lengths and finger grooves match up.

I love this pattern but I’m not sure if I can close myself on a slender, 6 oz knife

Still... I would love to buy one just to mirror polish the tip
