"Online" is a big place. Can you narrow it down a bit?
Yeah Reddit. Solid place for any info on a steel that's not released yet.Either Spyderco Forums and/or Reddit. I can’t recall. Are there other places where supersteels are regularly discussed in this way? Legit question.
The Buck 112 in MC has been my workhorse for the last couple years, and I have absolutely no complaints. I just got a Native 5 LW in MC a few days ago, so I haven't really put it to the test yet. I like to carry a lighter knife in Summer, and I expect it'll see a lot of pocket time then.I mean if you can count on two companies to dial in the perfect heat treat, it's BUCK & Spyderco. I've yet to get a MC Buck, but it's on my short list.

It was the Spyderco forums. Someone with the mule tested it and found it wasn’t as resistant to corrosion as Magnacut. We shall see. I hope it is the same or close.
The chemistry for Magnamax hasn’t been finalized. The heat of steel that Spyderco used for their mule project was the second heat from the now-defunct Crucible Steel, and the chemistry was off. This led to some unique attributes which may have been of benefit, but it also showed a reduction in corrosion resistance compared to the initial test melt. The latest heats have all demonstrated improved corrosion resistance, but it’s still being dialed in. I’m expecting sample material from the most recent melt for testing perhaps next week.
Things take time to get right, and all the right people are working on it to do just that.
Magnamax was never intended to replace Magnacut, or be an improvement on it. They’re two different steels, with different properties. Their use cases might overlap, but one might offer improvement for specific applications.

And you'll note that I did not make any claim to it's qualities other than it was coming. That's why I'm not on Reddit, I don't make huge clickbait pronouncements so I don't fit in with that crowd.Right, but here you are also talking about a steel that isn’t released yet. And folks there have cut and paste similar and the exact link you posted here. Imagine that. Luminaries everywhere!!

I see what you did there100% Accurate.
Good news about Buck is that you now have an MC blade available to chose for a custom. No more having to wait for the next Buck of the Month and hoping it's something you like!
