fitzo fitzo I took your advise with "KISS". This simple design works well.. there is plenty of friction to hold the blocker in whatever position desired. I put an offset in there in case I wanted to take the tension out and have them flop around.... in that senario they would default closed.

Here is how they turned out:

Nice! You're down to one moving part. Now that's engineering. :)

The stops don't have to keep the die tight, just stop it from squirting fore or aft if a billet is pressed cockeyed or off center.
