How long has it been since you last cut yourself?

Believe it or don't, I hadn't cut myself in years. Then on vacation last summer, I took my Spydercard. Didn't slice myself, but poked myself with that very sharp point a couple times. Something about the ergonomics makes it easy for me to poke myself with that knife.

Beyond that, I occasionally lightly slice myself, where a little skin slices off but not deep enough to bleed.

The discussion on another thread about the P38 can openers made me think of a time when if you count that little S.O.B I was getting myself on the thigh a couple of times a week when it was on my keychain. Finally I started putting a little strip of tape around it to hold it closed but I ruined several pairs of pants to say nothing of put a few cuts on my leg then.

I was cutting fringe into a sheath in a stupid way, (a cardboard box in your lap is NOT a workbench!) with my CRKT wharncliff Mirage and slipped off of the workpiece and into my thigh. Sank in about 1.5cm and made about the same length cut. Those wharncliffs can really penetrate. That was about three weeks ago. Took three days to stop seeping the bandage.
I liked those jeans, too.

How many layers of skin do you call a cut?

1 layer, yesterday, sharpening my ladybug on a flatstone

2-3 layers, about 1 month ago, pulling insulation out of our shed, caught the end of my pinky with my Delica.

Blood, about 1 month ago, playing with a new Axis-lock... it's smooth, almost to smooth to play with.

Not sure which has the highest count...

If your cut produces at least one drop of blood then you can call it a cut. I was waiting for someone to define "cut".

A couple of weeks ago I was talking to Mom on the phone. I told her "Mom, I ALWAYS seem learn a lesson when I talk to you."
She replied "What are you talking about?"
"Well," I told her, "I just learned that it's best not to mess around with knives wheile I'm on the phone!"
See, I'd been flipping the Endura open and put a real nice slice in my finger. My first thought was: Yeah, that knife's sharp! Second thought: Christ, where are the Band Aids!?

knicked my thumb good closing my sebenza about a week ago, that's the disadvantage of liner/frame locks

Two days ago I was showing off my new Griptilian to a friend, you know, shaving hair off the back of my arm (it didn't come hair popping sharp, but it will push shave)and I guess I got carried away. Anyway, a couple of stitches later and I was practically good as new. I didn't know an artery runs through that part of my arm though. Always something new to learn.

About 2 weeks ago. I was sharpening a marine combat knife, and let my mind wander just for a few seconds... My left middle finger slid up and over the edge of the stone just far enough that on the next pass, I took the last 3-4 mm off neatly in one swipe. The blade passed thru skin, nail, etc. LOTS of blood. Had it bandaided for about 4 days. It's just now getting out of the "scabby" phase and I have a big half moon shape cut out of my fingernail.

Just proves you should ALWAYS pay attention while sharpening!

Last week I was checking out my new SERE 2000, and had already checked for side to side wobble(none). I then grabbed the blade and tried to check if it wobbled up and down. Nope, it didnt, but my finger came away with a nice slice.

Well let me see, when did I get my last new knife...after all it's not really "My" knife until it's drawn blood. Mine of course!

Hmm...a month ago.

I was scratching my back with a 50/50 Endura when I pulled it up without thinking.

I'd done the Endura "back scratch" for 8 years or so and had never had a problem.

"Whoops"

It was still bleeding off and on for a few days...raelly screwed up a work shirt, and got some looks after I'd absent mindedly scratched it on a post...

Any idea how hard it is to put a bandaid over a 4 inch cut in the middle of your back?

Anyhoo, I guess I deserved it...lol

It's been about two weeks. Last time was with a Cricket. Got my left index finger.

Almost 3 weeks ago. My right hand slipped off the handle and onto the blade. List of damage - Index finger, cut artery, cut nerve, cut flexor tendon. Middle finger, cut artery, cut nerve. Even with the arteries, there wasn't that much blood and direct pressure stopped it quickly. Can't use my hand for about 8-12 weeks. The surgeon was happy the knife the cut me was extremely sharp, said it made the microsurgery easier and the tendon should heal quicker and have a stronger bond as well.
