How long has it been since you last cut yourself?

Interesting topic - last time - 3 weeks ago "Easyrider" and I took a trip to a cutlery shop in Santa Fe. I was attacked by a Griptilian -- serrations consider me fair game!! I didn't buy the 550, but did come away with a W-H amber Kestrel and a bandaged finger. The handle "OUCH" is one I earned.

Last week playing with my BM 350, closed it and didn't move my thumb off the liner lock fast enough. Cut into the top of my thumb above the nail, bled like the proverbial "stuck pig", AAARRGGHH! Next I nicked my right index finger this past weekend trying to remove some old caulk when the Gerber Multi-plier blade semi-closed up. Not too far so just sustained a small nick, no blood. Next time my Navigator gets the nod.

Been some time for me.
The last time I cut my self good (if good is Bad)
Was getting a fox foot ready for mounting I was cutting a knuckle off and I was into bone when it finally when though I had some pretty good pressure on it. Using a scalpel it went down the side of my thumb
Taking part of the thumbnail and close to the bone that one left a mark.
Checking for rabies was another story

The last time I cut myself was just before mother's day. I was attempting to fix a drawer in my wife's cedar chest. Using the sheepfoot blade of my Case 1972 stockman, I was removing the old crystalized excess glue from the manufaturer. Like any wise knife user, I was cutting away from myself. However, like an unwise knife user, I was holding the drawer end piece in my hand. One slight slip and whang...a clean cut on the index finger of my left hand...clean and deep thanks to a well sharpened blade. A little hydrogen peroxide and treatment with a little neosporin and a bandaide were all that was needed. Only a small hardly visible scar that reminds me to place the material being cut in a more secure holding device.

a couple days ago i was thinking to myself that my new delica lightweight fully seratted wasn't sharp. those points look so big, they cant slice skin. so i tested my hypothesis. Did I mention my other hobby is first aid kits?

About 10 months ago. Got a Benchmade 42. Never used a balisong before. Well, when I always have new knives shipped to my workplace for convenience. I couldn't help myself, so I went into the men's room to practice my flipping technique. Well, you can guess what happened. I had a scheduled meeting in the office, so 10 minutes later my thumb is still bleeding like a river. No bandaid would help, so I wrapped my thumb in paper towels and held it under the table. Went on for an hour like that. Excused myself at the break and finally got to the first aid kit for a real repair. Never again with the balisong.

how about 5 minutes ago?

i was working on the computer and absent-mindedly doing windmills with my 42, when i let my short attention span get the better of me. for some reason, after a series of windmills, i flew into a vertical basic opening without breaking stride. i was still holding the bite handle from my windmill rotations, and thwacked the blade down onto my middle finger, where i received a lovely little gash just above the nail. hopefully the root is still intact.

squirted like a grapefruit, too.

"come and get one in the yarbles, if you've got any yarbles."

About a month. I cut three times that horrible day. The last was the worst. It went nearly to the bone...near my ankle. How did I accomplish such a stupid feat you ask? Sharpening...not used to sharpening a 12" blade!

I don't remember the last ti ouch damn $%&#@ knife.

About one half hour ago. Slicing cheese; sliced through cheese in to finger (sigh). Luckily a minor bleeder; a good reminder to be careful.

If we're counting any edged implement, then the cut I got last Tuesday by dropping a 1" chisel on my bare foot would be it. Severed a tendon and a nerve. 4 stitches holding the tendon together and 9 to close the cut. Thank goodness for fireworks, my berzerk 170 pound dog just broke loose from me by stepping right on it.

Tonight! I was drilling through a piece of Kydex and forgot to move my thumb, took a nice gouge out with the drill bit...

Oh, did you mean cut myself with a knife? :D

Day before yesterday... Linerlock, CQC7, serrations, pinky finger in blade closing path... It was a VERY small cut, but for some reason it wouldn't stop bleeding.

36 hours. I was wiping the excess rouge off of a CRKT Ryan #7 that I had just stropped, just before going on duty. If you knew how often that simple maneuver costs me a cut, you'd think I would quit it, wouldn't you?Old, dog, new tricks, I guess.

I read these threads all the time with awe. I use a knife every day during normal use and I also do knife tricks such as spins, flips, throws and many more. On top of that I sharpen often and practice knife combatives. I have not cut myself in at least 5 years, and the time before that was measured in years also. Am I more careful then the rest of us or am I just extremely lucky?

I can't remember the last time I cut myself with a knife, so it's probably been a couple months. However, working in a bike shop has resulted in weekly cuts and scraps from frayed cables, metal burrs, hidden staples, and various broken fasteners. Did I mention paper cuts from order sheets and catalogues?

Would lacerations obtained from other than knives count? If so, daily since I got my new cat. Ever try to give a cat a bath? Her claws are quite sharp :) Last time w/ a knife about a month ago - closing CRKT M16 - caught thumb at DIP joint ~ 1/2 cm shallow lac - healed very nicely though ;)

Oh you will love this! About seven years ago I cut my right thumb closing a Gerber Gator I bled for two days[ouch!]. Then I didnt have an incident for about seven years. I was checking out the new Gerber Stud Gator at the knife store last month and I was telling the guy behind the counter about how the Gator had bit me seven years ago. Well I sent my thumb right into the open blade AGAIN!. Yeah I bought the knife. She and I are good friends now.She will probably bite me again but thats what she was made for.
