How long have you been a knife person?

I've been interested in knives, guns, and weapons of all sorts since I was in elementary school. I've only been collecting for a couple years now though, due to being able(and willing) to spend more on blades.

I started carrying a pocket knife before I was 16, but didn't get into knives until I was older. When I was young I carried a knife because everybody carried one, and I needed to use it occasionally. When I started working in my father's garage I really did use a knife a lot, but it was just a tool to me. After college I got a little more interested in them and for awhile I even had more than one knife to choose from, but I still didn't know much about them. Somehow I got on the internet and Bladeforums probably more than 15 years ago, and got really interested in knives. I started collecting custom hunting knives, and had a few EDC knives. Then a couple of years ago I got a lot more interested in buying EDC knives and that's what I've been collecting ever since.

Started carrying everyday around 8 or 9. Carried Schrade Old Timer gun stock trapper, not sure if that is what they called back then but that is what they call it now. Also carried a lot of queen cutlery Big Chief. I'd like to know how many of those 2 models I lost over the years but it was a lot.

59 years, received a pocket knife on my 4th birthday. Had a picture of a RCMP sitting on a horse. Twas a pretty cool present back then.

I see some of you mentioned Case knives, well, I still have my original Case XX fixed blade knife, and original sheath, that my parents gave me when I entered the Boy Scout. I think that was about a zillion years ago!

Ever since I was a little kid. My Grandfather had an old wooden toolbox in the basement filled with dozens of old slipjoint "sample" knives. I would go down there, open the toolbox and look at them. I might have been maybe 6 or 7 when I was "gifted" a small "peanut" with steel handles. I still had it as of about a decade ago, but it was lost while moving to a new house. I'm 45 now, with kids of my own. They will evntually inherit a whole bunch of knives form the "Ol Boy".

I don't ever remember not being a knife guy... got my first knife when I was 6 years old.

guess ive been a knife guy for well over half my life, I'm 17 :p
